Pia is this years Katharine Mcphee just not nearly as good vocally, i looked at her for a minute and knew exactly what AI would do with her and pushing her as a solo artist, the same thing they tried with Katharine Mcphee, they tried to make her a sex kitten rb/pop/dance, which is fine if you have no talent vocally, thank god Kat is with Verve now and doing music that shows her vocals, good luck pia, but i know where they are going to put you "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Yeah pretty unfortunate how the winners immediately get pushed into that MOR sound.

thats a scary group of people, that should not only be signed to contracts they shouldnt even be allowed to read a contract. It looks like another bad Mtv Reality show, i bet Fox spins off something with a few of them and calls it AI losers. Agreed. Simon leaving was the best thing to happen to AI. His schtick was tired by the third season and his choices sucked. I don't miss Paula's annoying ass either.
This is the best the show has been since the beginning. They have diverse singers with genuinely interesting vocal talent which hasn't happened since the first couple of seasons. That was the reason I didn't watch regularly since season 2.
Can I just say I love Steven Tyler? I never knew much about him before but I must say that I think he's a great addition to the show.
My favorites are Jacob, Casey and Naima. Nobody mentioned Scotty because he sings country I guess, but I love his voice too. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I liked Pia, James, and Scotty last night

Is everyone MAD? Jacob just wails and half the time it's off key. I don't get it, plus choosing fuking R Kelly and that horrible song. I'm amazed at the love this guy gets.

Last night he was wailing...............

I miss Simon | |

I enjoyed Casey best. Haley sounded great but I didn't care for her song choice.
Scotty kills me, everytime he's on I remember that little boy doing Regis on mad tv. I just cannot match his voice/persona with his age "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

Well, hell's fire! I was hoping it would eventually drive the show off the air. Andy is a four letter word.

Me too. I don't get how all of a sudden people are going goo-goo, ga-ga on it. J-What and Steven are gonna get tiring after a while.

'American Idol': Ten Reasons It's Better Than Anyone ExpectedWe admit, we were more than a little skeptical when we heard Simon was leaving "American Idol." And we were still skeptical after the first couple of audition episodes in which Steven Tyler was just talking crazy and Jennifer Lopez refused to be mean. But since the first Hollywood week, this season has completely turned around. Here's why "Idol" is now better than it's been in ages:10. Better Pacing This show has regularly promised that it would spend less time on auditions and make the episodes shorter, and lo and behold, this year it finally did. Even three airings a week are fine when they aren't all bloated two-hour episodes. 9. Kara and Ellen Are Gone Ellen was supposed to bring the funny and Kara was supposed to bring the music authority, but it didn't really pan out that way. Ellen was just "nice" and Kara repeated everything that Randy said but in the most dumbed-down way possible. 8. Online Voting The show has finally come into this century and is allowing viewers to vote on this magical device known as the computer. Viewers are no longer limited to expressing their opinions via text messages and phone calls. Here's hoping it shakes up the results a bit and mitigates the grandma voting bloc. 7. Better Songs Sure, there's the usual Rob Thomas/Christina Aguilera staples getting hauled out again, but there's also a little bit of creativity with songs by Judas Priest and Fiona Apple being performed. 6. Steven Tyler Sometimes he makes no sense. He also uses a fair bit of profanity. That said, he's surprisingly insightful and adds some funny zingers into the mix, too. When he isn't hitting on female contestants, that is. 5. Weird Contestants We have a hard time believing that the likes of Brett Loewenstern, Casey Abrams, or Rachel Zevita would have made it the semi-finals with the previous batch of judges. We're glad that at least a few unique spirits made it to the Top 24 this year. 4. Jennifer Lopez She's got the compassion of Paula, but without all the crazy talk. And though she's sensitive and gets attached to the contestants, she still manages to cut them down to size and deliver some tough love if necessary. 3. Sob Stories Got Cut We figured that Chris Medina was going to be the next Danny Gokey and that "Idol" producers would find a way to sway the judges to keep him around forever to milk the sympathy vote. But they didn't. And Ashley Sullivan was the kind of train wreck that would've made for good reality TV, but she was ousted, too. Both prove the judges are truly voting on talent. 2. No Simon Cowell We thought we'd miss his British accent and his cutting wit, but we don't. We thought we'd miss his awkward banter with Ryan, but we don't. The last few seasons, a bored Cowell seemed to be phoning it in, so it's nice to have judges who actually seem like they want to be on the panel. 1. Randy Jackson We've got to give it up for the Dawg. He's stepped up to become the voice of reason this season, delivering honest and harsh critiques when no one else wants to. He's moved away from the "you did your thing" shtick and has really settled in to Simon's shoes. He even banters more with Ryan now. We're oddly proud of him.

I don't even watch the damn show but I want it to go off the air so it will no longer be all over the shows I do watch. On the days that I may work evenings and will be at home in the mornings, they talk about that damn "American Idol" all over the "Today" show, "The View", and any other talk show that may come on. Hell, they will even have stories about the damn show on the local news. It's depressing as hell because you can't escape the damn show even if you don't watch it. Make it END dammitt!!!! Actually last night wasn't the best for all 13 vocally. The producers really blew it on some of the arrangements and the vocals were better last week IMO. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Tbh, I wasn't particularly looking forward to this season but curiosity got the better of me and the show is turning out to be better than I expected. The talent is more diverse and Steven, unlike Simon seems really engaged, plus I like his personality. I've never been a Jlo fan but her input is way better than Paula's annoying drivel.
Even Randy seems to be stepping up his game. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

The talent is good this season I agree, all three judges work well together and yes Steven is hilarious, I love his personality too, J.lo is nice to look at and I appreciate both of their more nuturing take on judging but I still need someone to tell it like it is damn it

I know I'm late, but I just watched the peformance of Christina Aguilera's "Impossible" by Kendra Chantelle. Kendra was ROBBED! I cannot believe she didn't get voted into the top ten let alone passed over by the judges for a Wild Card spot.
I didn't watch any of last season nor any of this season until watching the semifinals from last week. Now, I'm sucked back into this show. I don't have a favorite, though (which is odd). If I had to pick one it would be Lauren A.

THANK YOU!! His singing was all over the place. The arrangement was partly to blame, but still I don't get the hype.

Still digging Naima and Casey the most. Also like Stefano and Pia.
Haley kinda reminds me of a young Jill Jones btw.

Pia is lovely in a glamourous way but Naima has some kind of earthy, ethereal beauty going on. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Pia is good, i like her look, its very much like Katharine Mcphee who was the best voice this show had that lost that should have won, but, Pia is very off-key at times, that performance i saw online of "all By Myself" was very grandstandy like, and those forced high notes at the end have no part in that song, so its not really her fault but i question the people who prep them to go out there and do it like that because as good a voice she has, it was a very sub par performance "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
