The 'hurt' incident was backstage at the Oprah Winfrey Show where Patti, Gladys and Aretha were all there. Miss Franklin apparently was cold in the green room and snubbed Miss Holt (LaBelle). It was later revealed that Patti said that if Aretha acted up on her one mo gain, she was gonna whip her ass. LOL

LaBelle referenced this in an EBONY Magazine story, where she referred to Franklin as a 'Mean old lady" (without saying her by name).

When Aretha was feted at the Essence Awards and Patti sang "Ain't No way", when she came off stage to hug Franklin after saying, "Aretha I love you" in sung fashion - the awkwardness of the hug was obvious.

They have done an Xmas show together in Detroit, the Oprah Show, Essence Awards (2x, on the second occasion, LaBelle got loud on "Respect" as it was the show closing finale - and Aretha cut her eyes back at her) and a Snickers commercial that Patti was a stand-in for Liza Minelli (in case she didn't show up).

LaBelle shouldn't feel bad though, Franklin has had problems with Ross, Midler, Reeves, Cole, Blige, Staples, Price, Knight, Flack, Turner and Knowles too) (they would be:

Diane, Bette, Martha. Natalie, Mary J., Mavis, Leontyne, Gladys, Roberta, Anna Mae/Tina and Beyonce`respectivley). Aretha is not too female fond. She likes men!

I've lost many a pound in my day eating white meats baked instead of fried but I can't deal with no grass from the front yard. But you're right, it ain't no real food unless it's fried.

Aretha Franklin owes no one an explanation about her health, no one. Ms. Franklin has always been private person. I've been amazed at some of the things I've read things on this board after she denied she had cancer, some seemed upset the couldn't put the woman in a box. "She knows she has cancer", she's in denial . . . . amazing.

I did not know she denied having cancer. I thought they would not say ANYTHING. That is what bothered me.... not saying anything which caused people to panic and start prayer chains etc for Aretha. If she wanted to remain private... more power to her.

Wheat grass shots! Wheat grass shots! Andy needs a wheat grass shot. It is kinda crazy, but right after I take a wheat grass shot (once every three years or so) I start to remenisce about mowing the lawn as a kid. I love both artists but I think Aretha is very insecure about her own status.She needs to chill out,relax a little,and stop thinking that every other female singer is out to steal her title
