From your list, these are some of the obscure ones that I think are brilliant.

I could probably add about 100 to this list but I'll keep it to some of the really special ones.

Pinky

Ticking

Elton has had "to me" more impact than probably any other singer/artist, and he often does not get credit that he deserves, considering that he rivals the Beatles and Elvis in alot of chart records. Like any artist with a CAREER (i mean with a catalog of work) they will have good and bad, but BY in LARGE Elton's work has been pretty top notch, there have been many changes obviously, his vocals have dropped in his "register" but unlike OTHER artists he adjusted his songs to that register, others remain clinging to their past vocals and sound like shit, Elton now has a much deeper voice and cant go HIGH like he did in the 70's. But lets face it, the Beatles and Elvis both have records that will most likely fall, BUT elton john has one record that will NEVER EVER BE BROKEN, and dont tell me it well, cause it wont. Elton had at least one Top 40 hit from 1969-1999 every year at least one song charted into the top 40, no one will ever do that again, sorry. So to choose from Elton i think i would have to break it into decades for him because its too difficult to choose, and pull a handful from each

70's

Your Song

Sixty Years On

I need You to turn to

COme down in time

Tiny Dancer

Tonight

Talking old soldiers

Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word

Daniel

The Greatest Discovery

Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding

All the Girls Love Alice

Candle In the wind

Mona Lisas

Burn Down the Mission

Levon

80's

Empty Garden

Ball and Chain

I'm Still Standing

Sad SOngs

Burning Buildings

Blue Avenue

Whispers

Nikita

Japanese Hands

I dont wanna go on with you like that

90's

The One

Blessed

The Big Picture

Something About the Way you look tonight

Believe

00's

I want Love

Original Sin

Ballad of the Boy with the red shoes

The Weight of the Wind

Wasteland

When Love is Dying

All that im allowed

Wouldnt have it any other way

This Train dont stop here anymore

Im sure i missed something

I was just about to add: I don't believe I've ever heard a song by Elton John that I didn't like. Plus, if I had to pick ONE artist that represents the 70's to me, it would be Elton John, hands down. Billy Joel would run a close second, along with several others.

My favorite has always been "I'm Still Standing".

Had the chance to catch him live in Honolulu a year ago and he is an exceptional live performer. He played for 3 hours with only a percussionist accompanying him and never left the stage. Definitely gave me a new respect for him as an artist.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

That album was a trainwreck yes, but therein lies a certain appeal smile And "Heartache All Over The World" isn't a bad song!

He even said that album was the lowpoint of his career, it was a contract filler, he was leaving the label, owed one more studio album and this was it, done very quick, alot of songs were just laying around from sessions, i mean when the second single is a duet with Cliff Richard, you know you have a bad album on your hands

I mean Elton has re-mastered basically all his work, i think i actually heard he wanted this album deleted or at least downgraded in quality not upgraded. smile

I love a lot of songs by Elton John. He just has the perfect pop voice to me.

One of my absolute favs for all time from him is Your Song. That song really makes me mushy everytime I hear it. Tiny Dancer, Bennie and the Jets, Something About The Way You Look Tonight...and so much more that I cant remember right now.

i still rank it amongst his best of the 80's, it was a well written song by Bernie as usual, i mean its far from awful, awful was "slow rivers" the song with Cliff Richard or 99% of that "Duets" cd he did, i wouldnt say Nikita is a classic song of his, but far from bad, plus u had George michael (sober) on background vocals
