Nas Albums

Been listening to his stuff again recently, and this is just a great poet and speaker for hip hop. Nas of course came out with the classic Illimatic which includes N.Y State of mind, One Love, Life's A Bitch, The World Is Your's, Halftime

Then As It Was Written came out which was also a good album.. of course he had a big of a set back with I Am....

but people are always comparing Jay-Z & Nas... and while Jay has had more albums and tons of strong material. I think Nas material has been more consistent. Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled & the duet album with Damien Marley is also a great one. Way better then The

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I like all of his albums, except for maybe the stuff he did with AZ and Foxy Brown (The Firm). And I think his Stillmatic album and The Lost Tapes are just as good as Illmatic. I also love the one with Damian Marley, Distant Relatives.

He is a great poet and storyteller, and as long as there are rappers like him out there, Hip Hop will stay alive. It´s not even THAT dead if you really take a good look around. There are still many good rappers out there doing their thing.

Nas is an artist.

Jay-Z is not.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Well i must disagree cause i like Reasonable Doubt & The Blueprint even the black album

But i think Nas has been more consistent and has been to keen on the disses, but i see a lot of people i know say Jay-Z is better... but i think that's cause he is making pop singles and staying in the spotlight

Keeping a high profile doesn't mke you talented. It means you're good at marketing yourself. Jay-Z used have artistic credibility but he sold that for popularity. The funny thing is that now that he's in a position to make whatever raps he wants he's still craving the spotlight.

My favorite Nas album is, "It is Written". It's a great album from start to finish. While some might consider Jay-Z a king, I would have to give the title of prophet, to Nas. Everything from flow to the content of his rhymes are all on point. That being said, one cannot get mad at Jigga for expanding the art form to the masses and making paper, as a result of it. To me it's a contradiction to say, that because one has a high profile, that excludes them from being an artist. Artist HAVE high profiles, that's what make them artist... Besides, name me one rapper who's dream, wasn't to come out of the hood and get paid for his talent. There are those that say that they would do it for free, but I HIGHLY doubt it...

Nas is like....that dude. cool Nasir has always been one of my fave emcees. Nas has never lacked artistic integrity or skill, but always lacked (to me that is) good ears for his music. Nas is usually on another playing field when it comes to lyrical content. The last joint I bought from him was Stillmatic. He's a modern day poet whose skills aren't valued in this modern day world.

As far as Jay is concern. Jay has always been able to balance making good radio hits, while downplaying the other records for the streets. I think he learned that well from Biggie. Put Nas in the hands of better producers, (or simply choose better music) and if he could write more accessible hooks, he'd enjoy much more success in his career. Isn't he and LA Reid beefin' about the release of his new record right now? confused

Nas is without question one of the best emcees to bless the mic. 'It Was Written' for my money is his best album, he's one of those artists that always produces great material, even on his not so great albums. Some of his later albums I haven't been so wild about, but I still appreciate them.

Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

IMHO Nas has yet to put out some bullshit

though I would pick Jay over Nas

I have to give credit where it is due
