You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't know which is the best album cover but Virgin Killer by the Scorpions is one of the worst.

Fela was always fond of boobies on an album cover...
The cover on the left just makes me laugh, as it's over-the-top but in such a lo-fi, homemade kind of way. I quite like the one on the right, though; not just for the obvious reasons. "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

Mott The Hoople - Mad Shadows Looks rather scary, but it's actually a picture of a fireplace and a mirror
T.Rex - Electric Warrior Marc Bolan in electrifying colours doing what he did best
HIM - Greatest Love Songs Vol.666 Lead singer Ville Valo looking sad, sick and disturbingly beautiful. There's a strange S/M vibe here too. "Life's an elevator, it goes up and down. Life's an elevator can't you dig the sound?" -Marc Bolan

That Whitesnake album cover looks cheap and tacky, sorry.
I still like this one a lot. Glen Friedman took some AMAZING pictures in the late 80s. [img:$uid]http://antwanreynolds.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/ice-t-rhyme-pays-cover.jpg[/img:$uid]
Many people prefer the album cover for the Power album over Rhyme Pays but I still prefer Rhyme Pays and the cover looks better, too.
This one is the one for Power. A much weaker album, IMO. [img:$uid]http://www.baddaymagazine.com/images/uploads/ice_t-power.jpg[/img:$uid]
Santana had some fantastic album covers in the early to mid 70s. Abraxas, Caravanserai, Borboletto...just to name a few.
I still love the Purple Rain album cover, front and back (ok, the typo on the back is hilarious....there´s this purple suspicion that lurks in the ANALS of my mind .... )
Lovesexy and Parade and Dirty Mind were excellent and very iconic, too.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I think the best front cover is...remember Sade's first greatest hits disc? Just a closeup pic of her with her hair blowing in the wind.
