So, this band to me was revolutionary. For there time, they brought a funk and jazz to there music and these guy's came out at a time where people where marketing them with the hair metal band's. But they where way ahead of them

Vernon Reid is one hell of a guitar player the guy can shred and play lot's of great bluesy notes to, Corey was a more then capable singer. Doug Wimbash has a loud, brash funky sound on his bass and he has also played with Jeff Beck, Depeche Mode, Joe Satrini. George Clinton, madonna to name a few.

And of course there great drummer Will brought the funk on drums

These guy's debut Vivid, with the great single Cult Of Personality, the political Open Letter To A Landlord and other great track's like. I Want To Know, Middle Man, Funny Vibe.

There next few albums where all great in my opinion, Time's Up is my personal favorite

And The metal Stain my 2nd

Any one else a fan of these guy's?

On a side note.... at the time i read people where freaking out cause it was an all African American band playing Rock N Roll???

Uhhh AFrican Americans create RNR to why was this such a shock?

why is it a shock? because we are supposed to be relegated to certain types of art and genres. it was only when the rolling stones, the beatles and them did their versions of our music, did our music get acknowledged as being valid, on a general scope. bo diddley (who i consider to be the king of rock n' roll) was PISSED about that for many years.

i don't think people could surpass classic folks like jackie brenston (with ike turner ) and ellas mc daniel..

but back to living color. yeah, they are some nice cats. powerful stuff. this is my favourite living colour song of all times:

I saw them with the "Experience Hendrix" tour back in November.... I'd never seen them live before.

They were AWESOME!

I'd love to see their whole show.

Wow! I didn't know they were still touring together. Dope band! Should've been bigger than they were, if you ask me. After their first joint, interest waned for most people. Speaking of LC, I remember the band Fishbone used to rock too. Why we couldn't support the growth of Hip Hop while maintaining love for Rock-n-Roll is beyond me. With every generation there seems to be less appreciation for the Blues and/or RnR in the black community especially.

I mean i understand that and all... i just find it foolish that in those times people thought it was so different to have an all black rock band....

When as we all know it was Black's who created rock and just about every major music we got going on right now.

Yeah! they had a new album circa 08 09 that was really good!

Loved this group since day one. When I saw them on MTV News back in 1988 I was hooked. I remember Vernon saying something to the effect that "Blacks can do other music besides hip hop

and can play other types of rock besides Hendrix" and I was elated. I thought 'Finally, something new and different'.

I love all their stuff but my fave is "Stain". You can really hear the Bad Brains influence on some of the songs. I really hope that the "tell all" docu-movie comes out soon.

..and a little piece of trivia, MeShell was their bass player for a little while before Muzz Skillings

joined.
