You know Queen Re-Re is probably on the phone with Tasia's Aunt Bunny right nah!
You know you ain't actin' right when it's time for the elders to step in, but for the Queen to address this issue herself? Yup--- Fantasia needs to get ready to pick out her metaphorical 'switch off the tree', cause she's long overdue to get her simple ass beat , and it's going to be beat by The Queen

I am not sure, with her many issues that Ree Ree is a suitable candidate to straighten anyone out and she shouldn't be giving out advice on men. Fantasia needs a transplant of common sense, some meds and PROFESSIONAL therapy. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I think Aretha was just reacting to the public outburst, which I'm sure was just the case. Ain't like she really knew her insides like that.

She handled this well | |

Well how did she lose all that weight then? It had 2 b over 100 pounds.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Sources say she had beriartic surgery.

No, the same problem with the heart. Think about it? How long was she in the hospital? The chemo, the hospital diet, the continued treatment and the lose of an appetite due to the cancer. Sorry folks, I've seen first hand the results and I don't see anything that conflicts with the news sources. Keep in mind the CBS "clarifed" press release. They stood by their story that she has cancer and kind of slammed her for misleading by saying something along the lines of, "while Ms. Franklin disputes".
My obese aunt lost almost 100 pounds while she was in the hospital for a couple months due to a heart attack. The doctors released her and said, loose 60 more pounds on your own and we know your heart will be able to take the "shock of all the weight lose". She wasn't able to do it so they to this day refuse to operate. And she's a few decades younger then ReRe.

She was hospitalized briefly last November then I think she stayed in the hospital after her surgery in early December until the 15th, I believe, so about 14 days. [Edited 2/23/11 18:27pm]

And is she's still getting treatment, it's been three months. Yeah, makes since to me. My friends husband who had pancreatic cancer just flat out lost his appetite. He had to force himself to smoke pot in order to eat. (He was never a pothead-lol.) Space for sale...

Miss Franklin has never said she has pancreatic cancer. The only person quoted as saying it has been Patti LaBelle. Miss Franklin dismisses the pancreatic cancer talk. The STAR Magazine says she is in denial and has only months to live. Venues would not book a terminally ill person to perform in the future, nor would Clive Davis publically state to working with Aretha on a future album. This is all been very perplexing. Miss Franklin says the doctors told her that the 'procedure' added 15 to 20 years to her life. Beriatric surgery is the only thing that could do that. There is no surgery that could do that for pancreatic cancer. I guess time will tell...

Auntie Ree did it with class and respect with her correction which was nice. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

^ right. Her interview in Jet mag sounds like verbatim the pre-surgery pep talk they give to bariatric patients. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

I disagree. If she was cleared for surgery by a cardiologist... her age would not matter. WEIGHT would definitely not matter. This surgery is DESIGNED for the super obese. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

So why say the surgery ADDED 15 -to 20 years of life... not that the surgery SAVE my life.
I read the Jet mag interview... and also heard about interview with Wendy Williams... she was working out. And the jet magazine was all about weight loss, dieting and exercise. The whole article.
Not about renewal of life or grace of God or anything someone who "beat" cancer would talk about. It was all about looking good and feeling good for the "brothers" and what size she would be by her birthday. She has already gone down 3 sizes. Not once did she mention "getting a clean bill of health" all those phrases that cancer patients use.
She talked about losing weight, how good salads are, and looking good for the brothers and starting a new chapter in life and adding 15 years of life. Right from the bariatric prep book.
I am convinced she had gastric bypass surgery. No doubt in my mind. And her look is that of a post surgery patient. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

sorry, in Aretha's case it does not. I have seen 94 year old have hip replacement surgery. He was cleared by cardiologist and had a successful outcome. I am a cardiology nurse. I have had several patients well in their 90s come in to have cardiac catherizations in order to be cleared for surgery.
Aretha does not appear to be decrepit or frail. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Did you really?
Seriously though, I simply shared my family's personal experience and the fact that CBS refused to retract their statement that Aretha has pancreatic cancer. It all makes since to me.
The issue is not the hip being replaced....the issue is the drastic weight loss and the affect it will have on the heart. Come on, being a nurse, you gotta understand that! Seriously! Space for sale...

I didn't know about CBS refusing to retract their story. Now THAT gives cause to pause. As far as heart condition nothing can help a cardiac OBESE patient more than losing weight. Unless the patient has a blocked coronary artery or very low cardiac function. Cardiac patients survive OPEN HEART surgery. In my mind nothing is more major than open heart. Gastric bypass surgery is no more serious for obese patient than any other surgery. The biggest risk is anesthesia and recovery to ensure no blood clots. Those are the 2 biggest fatal risks. Aretha Franklin could very well be an excellent candidate.
The CBS angle is troubling to me. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

oh and I forgot Ito address this question. Unfortunately YES several. The doctor's reply to my question "why" was "well, he is a GOOD 94 year old". I guess, but if he had blocked artery is he REALLY going to have bypass at 94???? "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack
