Man you lost it saying My My My is horrible now if this was about Soulja Boy or these new rap cats I would agree but what is horrible about My My My. I guess all you folks that don't like slow jams get funked up when you with a lady or man for the females who hate the slow songs too. Johnny gives a balance of both he's a R&B balendeer. You trippin if you say My My My is horrible that song is smooth and shows Johnny really pouring his heart out to a lady.

That song has Kenny G. on it, and I think that's a no no to him. lol

It sounds like adult contemporary Anita Faker type shit. I don't do "tame" sounding slow songs that you can listen to with the entire family including grandmas and children. I want something that gets my dick hard. lol

Andy is a four letter word.

I would also post the live version of "Quiet Time to Play," but I can't find it.

I always thought it was stupid as hell that Johnny Gill joined New Edition in the first place because he was already a star before he joined the group. It's like he either joined or was asked to join because he was one of the very few that was their age group. Oh, those were the good ole days....the only children singers in the 1980s were Stacy Lattisaw, Janet Jackson, Johnny Gill, and New Edition. Hell, everybody else was grown. lol

I think they should have got someone unknown to replace Bobby Brown, not someone who was already a star. That to me seemed as rediculous as if they were to get Larry Blackman from Cameo to replace Jimmy Jam from The Time.

Michael Bivins asked Johnny to join New Edition to take Bobby's spot. Johnny sings like a man. And all of the remain original NE members were all becoming men during the production of the Heartbreak album, so having Johnny as a member help reflect that. The only minor drawback was Johnny was never a great dancer (who the hell can dance like OR better than Bobby Brown in the late 1980's?!?). And also, Ralph sings like a girl compare to Johnny! lol

Make no mistake, Ralph was always the primary lead vocalist of NE. But it's amazing how everything work out, giving that Johnny was a potential threat for the leadership role.

your wrong fam, he was brought in to replace Ralph not Bobby, Ralph left the group in 87, so BBD broguth in Johnny to replace Ralph, but MCA said nope we dont need a New Edition without Ralph, so BBD called and family members called Ralph about their financial situation and Ralph cameback, there is an interview on youtube Ralph details the whole issue.

Johnny wasn't really a star yet and not at the level NE were at. Johnny had a few minor

hits and was mainly known for his association and duets with Stacy Lattisaw. As a solo

artist Johnny still wasn't selling records.

That seems correct. While I now know about Johnny Gill work with Stacy Lattisaw and minor hits, at the time he joined NE he was unknown to me. When I reflect on Johnny Gill I think of him as a more mature solidly soul/adult r&b artist than the pop r&b group that NE was at the time. I dont believe that Johnny Gill was really in the NE audience demographic when he joined the group. I think it is a very far stretch to say he was a star prior to NE.

Oh, and the videos posted are a mess and my fave Johnny song is There you Go. smile

Yep, as credited on the "Let's Get The Mood Right" album....I think that' what that album is called. My wife owns it, so I don't know if that's the only record he played on or not.

Cool. I haven't checked the liner notes of any of his other lp's. lol And Home Again ended up in the used CD bin after about a month.
