OMG - hey, hey we're The Monkees - reunite for tour

Can you believe it - The Monkees are reuniting for a ten city tour.

Three of teh four original members are participating: Davey Jones, Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz are on board. Mike Nesmith declined to participate.

Mike never wants to do it, he did it once, hes kind of like the Brian Wilson of the Monkees

Interesting, given the negative comments Davy said a few years ago. lol I guess they made up and Peter got over his cancer. I'm surprised Mike was asked at all, as he left in the middle of the last tour he did with them in the mid-1990's.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Mike Nesmith should get a sense of humor, I mean really the man has always taken himself too seriously. I would've been shocked if he had agreed to tour, carry on.

I was surprised Rhino got Mike to do some commentary on the TV show DVD sets a few years ago. The last thing I heard about Mike is that he hosts some kind of think tank every year. I don't know if he still does them or not.

It's not a reunion tour until all four are doing it. razz I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth it to see the three of them, but it would be official when it's four. I met Davy when he toured with the production of 'Grease.'

I don't think Mike has been doing anything musical at all in a long time. The others were still performing individually.

Mike was never REALLY a guitarist, and I remember him getting ripped apart in the press for sub-par musicianship on the last full reunion tour attempt. I think it's been documented that Peter Tork was covering for Mike on some of the crucial guitar parts during those performances. And, it's been said that Mike declines these reunions because of the scrutiny of his [lack of] musicianship.

Bummer, though... I'd go as far as to call Mike Nesmith one of my early guitar heroes when I was a kid. There is some nice guitar in many of those Monkees tunes... didn't find out he was miming to those guitar parts until later... Sort of like finding out Santa Claus wasn't real.

I've always thought that Mike generally declines the reunions is because he's living off of Liquid Paper and doesn't need the money. lol
