OK, I had to turn that crap off; I couldn't even get through that show with a drink in my hand . . . Cabo Wabo Tequila. How's the weather where you live? lol

Okay this was just enough to spark my curiosity and watch it when I get home...it'll be after a party so I'll be good and liquored up falloff

I don't know what the hell you people expected but Oprah didn't treat Ross any different than she did when Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand was on. Just cause you wanted a mudd fight, don't mean the rest of us did.

I loved the hour and got exactly what I wanted out of it.

Oprah will definitely ask about Micihael. She always invites people who were connected to Michael.

lol lol lol Cheers.

Ms. Winfrey is capable and has done great interviews but maybe that's hard to do with someone you really, really, really admire. This wasn't one of them, the weeping . . . please.

Not only that but it's her last season. Everybody is going on wanting to celebrate the end. The same thing happened with Johnny Carson when he ended his run. Nobody wants to spoil the party.

Seriously, what more is there to say about Michael? We already know how Diana feels about him (she loves him...he was a great friend....she misses him dearly...blah blah blah). It's a tired topic, time to move on.

I honestly was proud it didn't get to that level. When Oprah does a show right, she's okay. It was about celebrating the life of Diana Ross (and her impact on Oprah's entire career for that matter). I dug the way the show was handled. Diana is aging gracefully too.

Brotha wha' you talkin' about, Ms. Winfrey was crying all over "call me Ms. Ross" when her show was called Chicago AM and Diana Ross wasn't even a guest. Yes, I kid you not, I mean come on now it's time to get a grip on ones emotions. How many moons has that been? lol

From what I heard, yeah. Hell she don't even have anyone carry her groceries when she goes to the store, she's usually putting bags in the car and driving off. She seems real hands-on. Not what you expect from someone who's supposed to be this "diva". It actually makes her more human than "diva". I think Diana gets a bad rap sometimes especially in her post-Motown days.

I thought so when she said she protested to Oprah's people airbrushing her make up on.

Memo to Miss Ross: If you're going to lighten the face and décolletage to such a degree, you might want to spend a little time making sure the arms and hands match.

lol

I'm gonna have to go back and watch out for that.

RE: Oprah crying all the time. We have a legislator out here in CA who always cries when she introduces her mentor in public. It's almost somewhat of a joke but for some reason it always happens. So, I can see how Oprah would do the same with Diana---go figure.

lol lol lol Nah, it was about respect and manners truly it was and is. But I'll org ya about that. biggrin

I never met Ms. Ross but I met Ms. Vaughan several times over the years. Sarah Vaughan really loved what she did but once she left the stage, she wanted to quietly go off and have a very good time with people she knew and vice versa. Before a concert, after a concert, in airports she was never not gracious to fans but she kept it moving. In other settings if you approached her, she had a look and a dry response that would back you up. lol You did not go up to her saying, hi Sarah. eek lol

I used to work with a Gopsel choir here in Europe comprised mostly of performers from New York ( Broadway and off-Broadway types). Alot of them were actually much older than they looked (talk about black don't crack! lol ), and one of them had the opportunity to work with Ms. Vaughan a few decades ago. I remember this person in particular (who was repsonsible for our training and technique excercises) also worked with Della Reese. He spoke alot how people from that generation commanded respect , and he had all of these anecdotes about Ms. Vaughan and Ms. Reese describing what they were like from backstage to the stage to being out and about in public. They weren't cruel, but them sistas didn't play lol

Della looks like she's happy to cut a bitch. Oh yes, those ladies were rough and it was clearly a "cause an effect" scenario with them, they only developed that attitude as a defense mechanism from what they encountered from this industry that never hid its contempt against black women.

Needless to say, I love their stories and I never get tired of people telling them. Like that infamous story about Billie Holiday when some redneck soldier put out his cigarette on her mink coat, she dragged him and his friend out on the street and wiped the concrete with their asses, and when the police finally showed, she was all dainty & timid, snuggling up her mink coat talking about "they harassed me, officer" evillol I just love it.

See? I already knew the fakery was in order and I didn't even watch it. If a wise woman such as yourself couldn't sit through the predictable bullshit, I sure as stone hell can't disbelief lol

She's also notorious (admittedly in her own memoir) for cleaning her own hotel bathtubs: she doesn't trust the maids to clean up after whoever left the room before her and wants to make sure it's spic & span, so she actually supplies her own Ajax and bathroom disinfectant whenever she travels. She said no matter how expensive, luxurious, or spotless the hotel, the first thing she does when she arrives in her room is pull out the rubber gloves and Ajax with bleach or she will have no peace lol
