Never stopped The Temptations (or the Rolling Stones, Journey, The Supremes, Van Halen, Wings, Genesis, Yes, Destiny's Child, etc.) lol En Vogue only had two other members. One was Amanda Cole (who didn't last long and was only on the Christmas album) and the other is an on/off member Rhona Bennett (who was only on Soulflower) because Maxine had left the group for awhile.

It most definately would've if their best offer was from Rufftown Records.biggrin

I doubt there is a demand from the majors for a group with members over 25 year old and last had a big hit around 1996. En Vogue has been touring as basically an "oldies" group the time since then. I think a better label for them is Verve or Blue Note like Al Green is with. They would give them music that would appeal to an older audience, who are more likely to buy their album anyway. Rufftown sounds like they would just hook them up with "beatmakers", to try to sell to teenagers who aren't interested in the group.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

To be honest, En Vogue as a group died in 1997. confused I've really no desire for them anymore like I used to. I didn't even get excited when the four originals came out during the BET tribute to girl groups by Alicia Keys. I got more excited seeing SWV and T-Boz and Chili than I did En Vogue. neutral

Here's a song from their last album, which came out in 2004. Cindy's on the lead. For some reason, most of the lead vocals on the Soulflower album was by Rhona, the new member at the time. On previous albums, leads were split equally.

Another song from Soulflower. Rhona is on 2nd verse.

This is when Amanda was in the group, she's singing Dawn's parts. The video is circa 2001 or 2002.

That's mostly a UK thing, isn't it? The USA is different. En Vogue is a black R&B group. It's like New Kids On The Block can go out on a tour and make big money and New Edition can't. NE is limited to package tours or performing in clubs.
