You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I know this is a theme song, but just for the heck of it:

And this isn't entirely instrumental, but I just LOVE the background:

I listen to this short little masterpiece almost every day. Rumor has it that Bill Conti composed it because they needed something similar to Kool and the Gang´s "Summer Madness", which was one of Stallone´s favorite tunes when they were shooting "Rocky". "Summer Madness" can be heard in the scene where Rocky comes home after beating Spider Rico and then he talks to his turtles and puts on the 45 rpm single of Summer Madness. I think they couldn´t put it on the soundtrack album so Bill Conti created this one, which was later used in Rocky II even though it is on the soundtrack to part I.

I also love this one called "Butkus", dedicated to Butkus Stallone, Sly Stallone´s dog. He passed away before they started shooting "Rocky III" and he also has his own IMDB page, listed as Butkus Stallone. wink

I love Contusion. It would be awesome if Stevie released an entire fusion album in the style of that song with a tight band backing him.
