Raul Midón I have been listening to this guy's music lately and I have to say, he's one of the most enthralling and interesting artists out there today. His voice and guitar skills are superb and even though he might be blind, his messages and music speaks volume. Too bad he is underrated by many in the industry. He even took Stevie's "I Just Called To Say I Love You" to the next level. Anybody else digs his stuff?

I have his 2nd album. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I bought his Mr. Midón debut album; his sophomore album did nothing for me. Even so, I heard him on NPR's Fresh-Air program pushing his debut album. That was nine in the morining and on my lunch hour I skipped on over to Borders and bought it. It had been long time since I'd bought music I'd heard on the radio . . . well, I haven't bought anything since then either .

God bless Uncle.
It was through him I found about this cat, and his version of "I Just Called to say I Love you".

He turns in a classy rendition of his song Everyone Deserves a Second Chance on Roberto Fonseca's excellent album Akokan, which I've been listening to a lot recently. I was also impressed by his collabo with Bill Withers, which, sadly, doesn't seem to have appeared anywhere outside of the Still Bill documentary.
Will definitely have to check out some more of his work! "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

I heard of this guy some years back and was quite impressed with his talent. Before Jason Mraz become a household name, I used to rock their collabo. It was so sweet and fun, and it had been a long time since I had heard a duet from new artists, especially two male voices.
This was also a favorite from the first album:
