Loads of artists release concert DVDs - it doesn't mean she wasn't on a break from music, the songs with Lady GaGa were recorded for their albums which came out in 2008 and 2009 respectively. She didn't do anything new. WTF is this website's problem with her? If you don't like her, don't pay attnetion to her. For example, I do not like Taylor Swift so I have no idea when her album is out and I don't bitch about her on websites.
I like Beyonce but you have to understand artist overaturation. Her label exhausted the public with her and people would like to see her go away for a little while. If you had to eat pancakes every day for a year, when you want a break from them, you don't want a week off, you want to not see them again until you miss them. Unfortunately, the corporate mentality is that if you are "missed" then someone else is taking your place. For an artist, that can be good. Look at Andre3k. Nobody is seeing him right now. When he's ready to drop a new record, all of his old fans will be checking for him. Beyoncé is still saturated. She needs to chill for a minute so the public can "miss her" and her return would be greater. Everybody loves to see old friends. Its not all that impressive when you saw your "old friend" last week, even if you didn't speak.
I hear ya BK. I actually agree with you. But do you or anyone else think that this model is changing or has changed? I mean, Beyonce isn't the only one who does this. Rihanna was just out last year, I believe with Rated R if I'm not mistaken. So, is this the new normal? If it's not, does this model only works for certain artists. Like you said Dr3K who hasn't dropped anything but features lately (most recently that Kesha chick, believe it or not), he could drop something tomorrow and all radio would be all over it. |

When you feel your album still needs one more song it's time to do the jazz / prog instrumental. |

I truly wanted her away for a couple (or three, or even four) years; not because I hate her or something (her music doesn't excite at all, anyway), but because it would be really cool if she disappeared in order to let her career "breathe"...
any artist needs to disappear at some point(s) of her/his career...
we need a Beyonce break already... |

I hear ya Joe but it ain't happenin captain. She probably couldn't stand to be off the radio as long as she was, which was probably less than a full year. I thought it was a shame that the Grammy's just HAD to nominate her for something. It's about like John Mayer, if he releases something, he's always guaranteed a few Grammy nods but he's beside my point.
Frankly I think she's scared to stay away too long to be honest. It's that out of sight, out of mind thing maybe. In spite of her commercial success, she's seems like an extremely competitive person. She sees the Gaga's, Britney's, Katy, Rihanna's out there. If you're all that though (big Diva) you wouldn't be worried about what the next chick is doing. [Edited 2/22/11 7:38am] |

Her fans miss her now. They are waiting for her work. How long do people want her to wait to put out new music? It has been 3 years. I am sorry but the whole "over-exposure" argument is the dumbest argument I hear and it gets on my nerves.
I don't care if the girl puts out album every month, if I like the music, I am buying it. |

Yeah, but you're not her fan and this is what I am talking about when people speak of Bey being "over-exposed". Only non-fans speak like this. Her fans aren't feeling that way. Why should she wait 5, 10 years to put out an album for?

a backlash is typically what happens when an artist is overexposed You shouldn't be suprised that so many people are sick and tired of Beyonce. |

Since the onslaught of media attention of Beyonce is nigh, who do you think will produce the better record? Beyonce, Britney or the Gaga? I'm not as concerned with sales as opposed to the actual quality of the record.

But that's probably either people don't like her music in the first place and/or casual music fans who is only has attention span for the "next new thing". As long as her fans aren't tired of it, that's what matters.
The whole "so-called" didn't become a topic until it happened to J.Lo and what happened to her is a completely different thing than Bey. Completely different. I would say why but it would take a long post and people in here aren't hair for that. |

how is someone who is on tv shaking and popping their cooch... and being a puppet... considered more successful then someone who might be a doctor, computer programer, scientist, CEO, manager, Teacher or even a college graduate....
success is really self-defined.....
so I personally dont' think because someone is on tv it automatically means they are successful or really talented or the most talented....
Im tired of beyonce just like everyone else. Maybe if she wasn't such an airhead and didn't take credit for whats not hers maybe people wouldn't be throwing knives her way....
speaking as an EX-fan.... i can say that she is freaking annoying |
