I don't believe for one minute that Fantasia was even invited to the Grammys
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I heard she wasnt invited, it wasnt a boycott, the grammys have a new "no crackheads" policy and they applied it this year. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. That Kennedy Center spot was rightfully hers, but she squandered it away by her poor personal behavior. Unfortunatley Fantasia has tarnished her reputation such that professional opportunities have and will be lost.
And wow, she actually WON and didnt show up. She really needs better management and personal maturity.
ETA_ Those saying she should have been there rather than the country artists. I agree. But they clearly wanted to have a more diverse set of artists rather than just soul, and frankly, and probably even more so, they didn't want an all black group of women doing the tribute. Heck, black folks weren't even invited to tribute Teddy P. [Edited 2/16/11 18:29pm]

I made a comment about all the "dissses" here of the non-soul artist participating in ReRe's tribute. The fact of the matter is, Aretha transends trends and her tribute was justly diverse. I did not expect nor did I dismiss the contributions of any of the artist. I felt the senserity in all of the women's contributions and appreciated their talents for what they were. Why is she boycotting after the performance? Fantasia is a hot mess.

Please We didn't want her wailing and doing way extra anyway "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Well considering how high of an educating level she had, she probably thought the Grammys was this Sunday.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i don't know much about fantasia's education levels, but come on! malcolm x wasn't educated by an institutional facility after grade school, so you can't always judged people based on their 'educational levels'... and i wouldn't depend on the institution for a correct education anyway. education begins at home. and this is where it should remain. if you decide to go to an institution, you should question everything they teach you.
but that's a whole other subject. i will say el hajj malik el shabazz (malcolm x) had two very well-educated parents who were garveyites, so that shaped him tremendously.

Well Malcolm was different: he educated himself. Fantasia apparently didn't. Just saying lol

Thank God she wasn't asked to participate in honoring Aretha. Frankly, I could not have endured a minute of her jumping up and down and oversinging.

??????????????????? wow... WHAT is she DOING??!! i actually saw her live (she opened for the essence festival years ago, and i thought she was good. she wasn't screaming and wailing a lot. i didn't know anything about her then, and i still don't know anything about her.

I saw a video of her performing on "American Idol" in some weird get-up (I guess trying to look interesting) and she was just screeching. Simon Cowell was like the whole time.

hee hee... maybe they told her to cool it down for the essence performance?

Probably. Who knows? | |

A local tv anchor actually made what I thought was a good point. If they invited everybody who loved Aretha, they couldn't find a big enough stage.
As for Fantasia, her personal demons are what she needs to work on and not believe she is getting snubbed when in fact she isn't. Some people tell me I've got great legs...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly.Considering her recent troubles,I think she should be focusing on those things, instead of an Aretha tribute. As I said earlier, this chick still has alot of growing up to do.

Fantasia dont get so upset, calm down girl

Well I suppose it was indeed better for her to stay her ego-tripping ass home. I mean would anyone want to watch the Aretha tribute only to have the camera cut to Tasia's angry mug? Perhaps she would have pulled a Kanye and hopped on stage to steal a mike out of someone's hand, you never know. Plus we didn't need to see Antwuan sitting up there with his "I won!" face. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Yeah, maybe she felt the snub to the point where she stayed home crying in her spilled bullshit. But, largely I think that she is a liar. Why is she a liar? Because I think that she is such an emotional basket case that she couldn't handle being nominated. See, that is when she would really get some feet wanting to jump on the mic. I don't think she could handle the potential of the loss in public. She covered her ass well, but exposed her crotch in the process. ...bit her nose off to save her face I suppose.

The Grammy folks probably saw what a shitty job Fanny did at the UNCF Chaka Khan tribute and decided to pass on risking her taking part in the Aretha tribute. I think they made the right decision. I like Fanny and all, but, as a live performer, she can be very sloppy. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I think the Grammys wanted a diverse group of females to do the tribute. I have heard the tribute should have left off Florence Welch and Martina McBride. I don't agree, although I would have preferred Carrie Underwood or LeAnn Rimes from the world of country. McBride was not good on "Until You Come Back To Me". If they wanted soul singers only, then they could have gotten Fantasia, to go along with Hudson and perhaps added Blige or Evans. They wanted gospel - Adams r&b/soul - Hudson pop - Aguilera rock - Welck country - McBride
Can you imagine if they had Barrino and Aguilera trying to outrun and soar/wail over each other? Music Royalty in Motion
