there are all more mainstream artist out now who can play instruments and are very talented with good vocals to back it up

i know lotta people hate Justin Beiber but he's is a talented with catchy age appropriate songs

if you look at each genre, the new artist are really talented and diverse

even with diddy and his group dirty money you see him trying to branch into other genres

and with esperanza spalding grammy win is one step up

for music

With the exception of Monae and Spalding, that list is pretty "blah", "bleh", or "blech". If anything music tends to get worse as time marches on. Simple generic, mindless, and soulless drivel spewed out by marketing execs.

Drake - Unoriginal, lacking flow, boring content. Not a real musician anyway.

Bruno Mars - Great musician, poor/pop-oriented subject matter.

Alicia Keys - Once again, boring content used to sedate patients for surgery. Competent musician however.

Dirty Money and ''musician" shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence.

seems like your saying everyone has to be a musican not everyone in the music biz is gonna be a musician

plus take your personal perfences out when looking at the development of music

i dont care for buno mars, drake and spaulding but i recognize the talent and the content is far better than what was put out 8-9 years ago

plus i think we people as a whole are taking notice of the new artist/underground/unkown artist with the help of the internet via youtube, blogs, and sites like this

our music taste as a whole has become diverse through technology thus the demand for more diverse mainstream artist.material

I don't need new music, when there is plenty of oldies to listen to. I like analog, not digital.

I agree. Except I think Drake is horrible, and I love Alicia Keys, but she isn't really new or anything.

You can try Daptone Records. They have new acts that make traditional R&B. They even print 45rpm singles on some songs.

Well, if they ain't making some funky ass shakin' music, it doesn't matter if they have all the instruments in the world in their music. Hell, a symphony has loads of instruments too but that doesn't stop it from being boring as hell. Instruments are extremely important but if they ain't used to get the asses shakin', some good has still not come from it. I don't want no high falutant "elite" type shit to sit and listen to in a damn coffee house. I want something fun!
