These are pre-teens and teens doing this stuff.

I don't think anyone outside of his fanbase and that demographic, particularly cares that he didn't get that Grammy. lol

It's damn pathetic how low people have to stoop. Now these are the same people who literally flood Twitter talking about how much everyone else is a hater. Now that over-exposed boy didn't win and all hell has broken loose. He's hardly new. In some ways, neither is she, but she hasn't had the deep level of exposure he has. I LOVE her music and it is so soothing just to sit and to listen and to relax. Her voice and her instrumental talent are just like sweet warm honey to me.

Some of these "kids" aren't all in the tween and early teen stages, either. That's the sad part about their bitterness. So all this callous "Esperanza who" is gonna be just fine. They can write all of the crap they wanna. Makes them look bad and really overshadows the fans who aren't acting a fool. Sista is still getting paid, making music, and getting the attention she deserves. This darnkess is just a part of the biz.

You think so?

I honestly think there's no way there's any adults participating in that crap. The whole thing reeks of pissed-off fangirls.

Not saying that a lot of adults don't come online and do ignorant shit - I know a lot do, I've seen a lot of it with my own eyes - but considering this is Bieber we're talking about, and no one is really that preoccupied with Bieber other than his teenage fans...

And, yeah - I somehow doubt Esperanza is off somewhere crying about any of this. She's awesome to me - an African-American female in the entertainment field, who actually has talent and doesn't get naked, and doesn't sing about bullshit. Which unfortunately is kinda rare among the newer generation of singers. I'm rooting for her.

You'd be shocked how rabid some of these fans get, and they're old enough to KNOW better, but won't DO better. I'm sure there are some young ones doing it too, but I'm also on the other side--the Twitter side--and there's so many teenagers 16, 17,18 with those Bieber-based accounts just saturating the timeline with that garbage! Don't let the typing skills fool you. The Preoccupation with this boy is just...wow...and I thought I knew until the Grammy's! eek

I'm rooting hard, too. She's rocking natural hair and talent and just oozes sexy without having to literally disrobe like you said...YES! She is rare and that's why I almost fell outta my chair when she won. I was so happy for her!

Yeah, remember these:

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yep, she sounds like she's got her head on straight.

When I look at her, I keep thinking Patrice Rushen.

Honestly? I've always thought the Beatles are the most overrated act of all time. boxed

Difference is, I wouldn't hack Wikis about them or spend any time hate-Tweeting about them. lol

I'd say that gathering a crowd to set Beatle stuff on fire or smashing disco records is a lot worse. The Beatles plane was shot at in Texas, and their crew was attacked in the Phillipines and all of their concert profits from there was confiscated by the Phillipine government.

nod Things have gotten better. I think the worst people can do now is vandalize someone's Wikipedia pages. Hell people wanted to beat up Elvis for a number of reasons because they just didn't like him (he actually went to court on an assault charge because some rowdy redneck boys tried to fuck him up and he fucked them up worse).

This situation is no different than the way ADULTS are reacting to Arcade Fire's win over Eminem.

Seriously now, this kind of shit has nothing to do with the artists....it's the pathetic culture we live in.

I agree. I wanted Em to win it, but I'm not gonna start dissing Arcade just because they won. I mean MMLP lost to Steely Dan and Lose Yourself lost to a Coldplay song, its obvious that the members dont like rap music so I wasnt really expecting him to win and just because someone else won doesnt mean that they are bad.

I'm not even a big fan of Eminem but he totally deserved to win over both Steely Dan and Arcade Fire.

oh, dear lord... ms. spaulding has been around for some time. she's got at least two albums. she's from portland oregon, and played for a president.

these kids are attacking a freaking artist? wow... the academy voted for her. this is how narrow we as a culture are encouraged to be. she did an AMAZING version of 'i can't help it' though- the best i've heard since the original!

This is amazing eek I clicked on this with low expectations, most cover songs done recently by younger & upcoming artists are either over sung or whiny beyond nausea. I'm so glad she kept it subtle and most of all, sincere.

That made me cringe as WHOLLY hell. Why do some non-blacks do that? confused Folks are too damn PC-handcuffed to tell me the reasoning behind this fascination, but they're not too damn handcuffed when they reach out and feel my hair.

And I love how they act brand new when you tell them to refrain from doing that shit again. I just love it.

Jesus, as if no one has seen an Afro before. People trip me with the "can I touch it?" I don't go to a non-black person and go "can I touch your hair? I've never seen a man with long hair before!" rolleyes He lucky Esperanza was nice and didn't smack him in the face.

Telepathy, got to be. Because I swear, all the while I was listening to that youtube clip of "Can't Help It", the first person I associated Esperanza with in mind, was Trice. I didn't even think of MJ the whole time I was listening to the song.

It does have an upside, some of the people that wanted to touch it were rather attractive young ladies. wink Dudes wanting to touch your bald head? Not cool. Hot chicks wanting to touch your head? Yes, please.
