It was WHITNEY, folks

Come to think of it, Born This Way does have an I Wanna Dance With Somebody-ishness about it.

To me it sounds exactly like Maddona's, "Express Yourself", which is ironic.

At this point, if Gaga came out with a single where she's reciting the alphabet to the tune of "Bad Moon Rising" folks would say "She's copying Madonna! She's copying Madonna!!!!"

Worst: Lady Gaga thanks one pop star, forgets another
Upon claiming her Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, Lady Gaga made one unexpected addition to her list of thank-yous: Whitney Houston. "I wanted to thank Whitney Houston, because when I wrote Born This Way, I imagined she was singing it," Gaga revealed. Somewhere, Madonna is awaiting some props — or, potentially, songwriting royalties — for Born This Way, which is being criticized for its similarities to Express Yourself.

Toronto Sun: The ever-freaky Lady Gaga, who was carried down the red carpet in a giant egg before advising us all “don’t be a drag, just be a queen” and whipping her crazy-long ponytail during her new second-rate Madonna knockoff Born This Way (so much for not being a drag).

Houston Chronicle:
After so much hype, Gaga's performance was underwhelming, and all but an homage to Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour - cascading ponytail, staging and all. (The song itself is a middling recycle of Madge's Express Yourself.) Gaga took home short form video, female pop vocal and pop vocal album. In the evening's oddest acceptance speech, she thanked Whitney Houston as the vocal inspiration behind Born This Way. (Sure, whatever you say.)

lol

Somewhere a crack pipe fell over when Whitney Houston heard her name on the Grammys. Amid very convincing comparisons of Lady Gaga's new single, "Born This Way," to Madonna's "Express Yourself," the pop singer announced that she wrote the song with, wait for it, Whitney Houston in mind? Um, okay.
The Gaga had several choices in that moment when it came to the Madonna copycat controversy. First, she could have just delivered her acceptance speech and ignored the comparisons altogether. Second, she could have taken the opportunity to give Madonna some credit for making that beat so darn danceable more than two decades after it was released. And third, she could, well, give someone else credit in a move to make herself that much more of an enigma...
Don't get us wrong. In her time, Houston could definitely sing and in her first several years she made some huge pop hits, but we don't hear her in "Born This Way" at all. We do hear Madonna, though - loud and clear.
Do you believe Lady Gaga wrote "Born This Way" with Whitney Houston in mind?

This is what I was saying. "Born This Way", her version of "Express Yourself". As much I dig where Gaga is going, she should pay Madge, something. She straight up, copied the entire melody.
