and I don't know if he heavily uses atotune because he cannot sing, or because he/and "his" producers think it sounds cool...

his songs are pretty average anyway, even by late-00's standards..

Same thing I've said in the past; I don't understand how we lived in a Bieber-free world one day and the next day the kid was inescapeable. Same thing I said in that other thread just a couple days ago; I don't currently like the music he's making, but the kid seems pretty level headed. Its not his fault that A) his fans are nutjobs, and B) we live in a world where the internet and social media allow his nutjob fans to voice their crazy ass opinions in public. I doubt his music will ever be my thing, but I'm not really worried about that either. Kid just needs to keep on practicing playing instruments and he'll be alright. Well, if his voice doesn't completely betray him, anyway. He sounds like a different singer already and you can tell he's struggling with finding his new range.

To me it's really annoying to read those comments on youtube. If there are 14 dislikes someone is going to write "14 people are Justin Bieber fans", or if there's 560 dislikes someone's going to write "560 people are Justin Bieber fans" etc. These comments seem to regularly appear, like you say, also on videos that are by artists working in completely unrelated genres and styles of music - classical, ethnic, metal, electronic and so on. Why is there even the need to mention his name at all?

I was just watching some silly Bulgarian / Romanian pop videos that are very close to soft porn - the music is awful crap by all means - and yet people had made similar comments about Justin Bieber on them. As if being into that stuff would be somehow above being into Justin Bieber's music. Justin Bieber probably isn't even very popular over there. Perhaps the word "annoying" isn't the right word to describe this behaviour, "embarrassing" would be more to the point.

People honestly have nothing better to do. 16 year olds achieving their dreams and making something of their lives is a bad thing, apparently.

As for people who are over the age of at least 18 hating on kids pop, there's a reason you don't like it... it's KIDS pop, it's not for you, so gtfo. It's the cutest thing ever watching my young cousins dance and sing to his songs and it's annoying to think that there's 20 somethings out there trying to think of the worst homophobic/mysoginistic Bieber joke possible when they could be, oh I don't know, getting out there and doing something with their lives...like Bieber is. At the end of the day, he's rolling in cash, had made his mark on pop music and isn't even legally an adult yet. He seems like a cool kid, too judging from interviews. People should just ignore him if they don't like him. No one is forcing you to watch/listen to him or even acknowledge him.

Those youtube commenters don't realise all they're doing is making him more famous. I honestly didn't know who he was until those comments kept popping up everywhere. It also means he's always on their minds, even when they're looking at other artists songs...what does that say about them?

It's an anonymous site, for the most part. Also a lot of them are young so there are going to be some crazy stuff that comes out from there. I wouldn't take it seriously. Though, when it comes to internet commentators Youtube is the lowest/worst places ever. It's like Myspace of social networks. If anything, Youtube should be a reminder of how many idiots truly exist in this world.

I was just expecting a lot more...

I just thought he sounded and performed like any other 12 year old. I didn't think he was all that exceptional. Then I found-out he was 16 years old? I guess I understand why the late elementary and early middle school set might like him, but I don't even think his own age group would be all that interested in him. Actually... when they reach the 7th grade, it's amazing how sophisticated their musical taste.

I just thought he'd be a lot more talented as per the hype. I just didn't find him exceptional at anything.

All of this makes me glad that MJ, Prince, and Madonna blew up way before the internet got into the hands of the general public? Especially since they were all out at the same time. It would have been a real mess.
