Yeah my dad was simply was "the dude died because he was ignorant."

No you’re not I was just thinking about it recently, I’m not a Marvin fan so I wouldn’t rush to see it. I hope the tupac movie will be way better than Big because that movie was trash.

I had completely forgotten they even made a movie about the Notorious B.I.G. until you just now mentioned it. Never had any intention of seeing that one either.
Although I find it extremely disturbing that they've never caught the killers of any of these guys, including Jam-Master Jay. Seems to me that even if some completely unknown off-duty cop had been murdered 10 years ago, they would have long since apprehended - convicted - and JAILED the perp by now. Though not before thoroughly kicking his ass within an inch of his life.
Guess that's why "justice" is sometimes spelled J-U-S-T / U-S. Because when it comes to someone being killed and the too often apathetic application of the law... there's just us.

That's why I can't stand to see him idolized. IMHO, he represented a very ignorant element of "our" culture. Then he was made bigger in death than he was in life, like the way they do Saints, and I'm not down with that.
However, we all have our shortcomings and things that we've done that we would take back if we could, which is why I wish him peace in the ever-after. Tupac didn't get to live long enough to see the error of his ways. Tupac was a Gemini, and no doubt would have eventually changed... again.

i'm one of those people who think tupac was sacrificed though. he let the consumers know that the 'east coast/west coast' fued was a fabricated effort to sell magazines. is it a coincidence that he was murdered shortly after that? i don't believe we should put it past people in the industry to instigate such an action.
i usually give the side-eye to a lot of people who do the 'illuminati' theories (because there are no sources and they aren't grounded in anything) but even though i was never a tupac fan, he was stating a lot of information to the public about what these people do. and he was influential to a lot more youth worldwide, than to black kids in oakland or brooklyn. i don't think the murder of tupac was a coincidence... the fact that the murderer cannot be found, in many instances, is another clue. i think it was a hit out on tupac. and biggie had to go, because one half of the major part of the fued was now gone. biggie was 'collateral damage'.
we look at bill cosby trying to purchase NBC, and then the murder of his son inniss happens... i mean, come ON! it's interesting, how powerful black voices (for better or worse) become silenced, either by murder, illness or excommunication.

Personally, I think that's a bit of a stretch. But I'll consider anyone's theory, and will readily admit that anything is possible. Although if powerful Black voices are indeed being silenced by way of some conspiracy, how come Oprah still gets to talk?

i most likely am the lone man/gal out here on this subject, but i sincerely think winfrey is a devil. she is the wolf in sheep's clothing. that is how she's still here. because people are placed here on this earth to see if we are paying attention. and she hawks books like 'the secret' (do you know the history behind that book, and its theory?) i believe that there are devils walking here on earth. i see her and i see rings of darkness around her.
and what happened to innis cosby may be a bit of a stretch; it's just odd that it happened right after his father tried to purchase NBC. so i don't rule anything out...

I admire how you speak on your beliefs without regard for how others may perceive your thought process. At least no one can accuse you of not thinking outside the box, lol.

hee hee... thanks for the compliment! i do regard how others consider my thought process; i'm just not into changing what i think to please other people. i get so much grief from people, but i certainly am not ready to change.

I would never even trust a person that changes their mind because they assume it may please me, lol. You've got yourself a Shape-Shifter right there, lol. And I don't trust Shape-Shifters, lol.
I think it's important for free-thinkers, like ourselves, to continue to listen closely to others. to challenge our own beliefs, and to remain open to the possibility of changing our mind if/when presented with a compelling argument. Speaking personally; I have firm believes, but my mind is never closed.
But you know what, I think we've gotten waaaaaaay off topic, lol.

PDogz...I hate to say it by I kind of agree with you. I didn't hate Tupac but I didn't love him either. It seemed right when he got out of jail he kept popping a lot of noise and (like you said) invited cats to try and kill him. The way he went out was sad but at the same time I wasn't surprised either.
..now in the case of Biggie, that totally took me by surprise. Biggie I liked.

Which is the reason why I can't invest in this project, emotionally. Given Hollywood's sensualist nature when it comes to biopics, I can't help but to feel skeptical about this project because they haven't given me any reason to believe that they won't be faithful to their own pattern.
2pac was a complex human being, a multi-deminsional persona and as much as I wanna keep a positive attitude about this, I'm afraid that the easy(and more profitable) route for their to market a film, is to cash in from his public persona.
I hope they prove me wrong.
That being said, you'll NEVER see them trip over each other to make a film about Marcus Garvey.

I have my suspicions about his mom. I think Suge Knight set him up to be murdered. He started that fight with the guy in that hotel lobby to create a motive. His mom, a crackhead who use to call him ugly because he looked like the father she lied to him about and made him believe was dead pulled the plug. Dude was trying to get out of his iv and tubes the.day or.two after and they had to sedate him. I feel it was premature for the plug to be .pulled.and she was just thinking primarily of royalties when she pulled the plug. This was typed on my HTC EVO

I found that terribly frustrating to watch, especially not being able to pull Tupac aside and say: "What the Hell are you doing?!? This is not cool". Then to watch all the young brothers rushing to get their "Thug Life" tattoos across their bellies too... . I would just think to myself: "This is NOT who you want to be following!".
Tupac would be turning 40 this summer.

what do you think of nikki giovanni with 'thug life' on her arm?
i love ms. giovanni, but when i saw that on the cover of her book i was like, ???????????????? i know tupac publicly statted that it was an acronym, but truly, when people think of it they most likely are not thinking of anything enlightning.
for me, i think tupac snapping had to do with his programming getting off kilter. i think that life people live, in that industry, ruins you if you allow it to. they program you in all sorts of ways. and when you finally acknowledge or realize it's all programming, then it may just be too late. i think this is what happened to him. they led him to a fabrication.

yeah, ask danny glover about that; he's been trying to make a film about toussaint l'overture, and he can't get funding due to there being no 'white protagonist'. or haile gerima, who could not get funding for 'sankofa' either.
tupac was indeed complex, but complexity does not pique interest, or make money. you see how the majority of films in the states have to have a solid protagonist or antagonist... i was never a fan of tupac, but yeah, i can see how complex he was. and i maintain that he was programmed to reduce that complexity, and focus on 'bitches and hoes' and money and turf wars.
