DavidEye said: Yeah,I believe he did win the Award that year,if I'm not mistaken.I also recall singer Freddie Jackson making a big fuss about the fact that 'Faith' was the Number One R&B album. He said "well, just wait until MY new album comes out"...lol...you could tell that he was really jealous
I think GM won more than ONE that year.. I know I've got it on tape somewhere.. I dont bother to find it!! But I think he won one for "Album" and "Faith" and also "I want your sex".. I'm not 100% sure but 98% sure.. I just remember being shocked when I heard about this!! hehe Anyway this thread is about JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and not the talented George Michael

Justin put out a good cd (period) I don't know how it did on the r&b, album, singles charts. Is this what nom was based on? Or r&b radio airplay? If so, i'm all for it. Heather Headley can still kick Ashanti's ass. ---------------------------------
Funny and charming as usual

Not surprised at all, he's the most bankable name dabbling in "Commercial R&B" hence the hottest R&B producers (Neptunez, Timberland etc) all lined up their hottest tracks for him. He's bound to get R&B nominations and awards as such...

HATERS, HATERS, HATERS...next you're gonna tell me that B2K sucks.
Justin is aight. He sings better than me.

Justin's song "Cry Me a River" makes me cringe! The part where he repeats "cry me, cry me" over and over sounds like he's saying "Crimea, Crimea." I was wondering WTF he's singing about the Crimea in Soviet Russia.

Justin is aight. He sings better than me. Calm down!.. I respect Timberlake, but I rather not listen to his music, luckily the world is so wonderful, we're all different and like different stuff.. ! So you just keep loving Timberlake and B2K

PPPllleeeeeaaaaassse!!!
OUt of all of these, ESPECIALLY Dru Hill, Maxwell, Usher, and Musiq...if Justin gets the award 'just because' that's just another confirmation about what I think and know about the music industry... Usher does the same thing, and BETTER, Dru Hill sings better, and not to mention Maxwell, just because he got a few producers on his side and is making hits, that makes him king of the world of R&B and soul...????? PPPLLLeeeeeaaaaassssse!!! For those award nominations and whatever goes on the billboard, they're just talking about those few people who actually go out and buy CD's, and it ain't the people who mostly listen to the radio or get the CD by other means...go to WWW.BET.com, message boards and you will see loads of what most of the people have to say about Justin Timberlake... Leave Justin alone!! Because I've been tortured in my life to have to listen to "teenie bop" music because I have pre-teen in my house, I've LEARNED to try to like some of these folks. I still hate Ashanti! She just sucks! But I'll give Justin a little love for effort. The cd isn't bad. Leave that white boy alone...please ya'll know Justin has a soft spot for the sista's. Maybe he'll get some at the awards. Rhonda, Mistermaxxx would be proud had you defended someone else. What do ya say, Maxxx? This post not for the wimp contingent. Exactly. And parents don't mind their little girls listening to him because every other word on his album isn't "gangsta, bling-bling, n*igga, murder, suck my di*k". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DavidEye said: Supernova said: mistermaxxx said: R&B doesn't mean the same as it once did.now when George Michael was Nomiated&Won I was feeling that but Justin TImberlake ain't no GM He is more Andrew Rigely overall IMHO with a couple catchy Sounding songs.and Don Cornielious Gets the Gas Face for not dropping them Class Old Soul Train Episodes on VIdeo&DVD.the SHow is Fixed like the rest of them.
Funny you should mention that, I was just thinking about George Michael. He even had his debut album hit #1 on the R&B charts. With George I always got the feeling that he cut his teeth on R&B (long before his duets with Mary J. Blige and Aretha), and it never came off as posing as a wannabe soul man, or something beyond his grasp. I'm not sure about that Justin guy when it comes to his solo stuff. Exactly! There is nothing "soulful" about Justin Timberlake and his music. He is just a second rate boy band/pop singer posing as a Michael Jackson wannabee. He works with all the "trendy" R&B and hip-hop producers in his bid to gain street credibility. But he fails big time, imo. His vocals are dry and soul-less,and his music sounds like everything else on the radio right now. George Michael,on the other hand, made genuinely soulful music and it wasn't "gimmicky" the way Justin is.The 'Faith' album went Number One on the R&B charts and it deserved to,as it was one of the most soulful albums of 1987.Hell,"Careless Whisper" is more soulful than anything Justin has done. edit...
