Britney Spears’ ‘Femme Fatal’ Delayed; Going Head-to-Head With Chris Brown

britney femme fat e1296671143492 Britney Spears Femme Fatal Delayed; Going Head to Head With Chris Brown

Despite being on the same label, Pop stars Britney Spears and Chris Brown are set for a March chart showdown. The news comes after Spears’ new LP was confirmed to have pushed back by two weeks today.

Full story after the jump…

Initially set to hit stores on March 15th, Spears’ ‘Femme Fatal’ will now arrive in stores on March 29th – according to Billboard.

The new date puts the singer in direct competition with Jive label-mate Chris Brown, who looks set for a comeback with his latest effort ‘F.A.M.E’. Indeed, Brown has been on quite the roll as of late – notching up hits ‘Yeah 3x’ and ‘Deuces’.

However, with ‘Fatal’s’ lead single ‘Hold It Against Me’ being the worldwide smash that it was, insiders predict the 29 year old will take the top spot – by quite a margin.

Sidebar: Despite official reports of a March 29th release date, Brown himself has declared that ‘F.A.M.E’ will still hit stores on March 22nd. Stay tuned.

First of all this isnt a "head to head" challenge, the difference in what kind of sales these artists will bring is almost like what the Yankees bring in to a home baseball game compared to what the Pirates bring in to home game, no comp. Im hearing this was done more for Brown, just so more "customers" will be out maybe they can get some curious buyers for Chris Brown, good luck

Why would Jive release their records the same week? They're on the same label.

Oh well...Either way head-to-head my ass. Britney would/will wipe the floor with him.

He's actually doing extremely well on radio but I don't know if that'll translate into album sales. Probably not.

He's not an album artist. He's too new. Even fucking Rihanna can't sell an album to save her career.

Like Chris Brown is a threat he still probably have his ghetto hoodrat fans buy it I wouldn’t be surprise if he goes top 10 but really like Britney would have a problem going number one. lol

"Another"?? She has not flopped yet. The closest she came was Blackout and that album is pretty baller.

It'll be something else when that day comes and Chris Brown bitch slaps everybody with high sales. And shucks if most of his album sounds like "Dueces" I'd buy it, but something tells me its going to sound more like that awful "Yeah 3x"....nails down a chalkboard to my ears. confused

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That album is amazing / the only B album i even like, yes, agreed, but come on, for her standards and at the time of its release it was considered / is still considered a flop in the US. If Madonna had an album do that crappy that young it would have been called a flop too (read: Erotica, Blackout's superior inspiration).

Yeah, I think so, but I also think they wanna use the fake competition to actually boost HIS sales... Britney doesn't need that... Chris does... remember Kanye's 'Graduation' and 50 Cent 'Curtis'... Almost anybody knew Kanye would win, and I think if 'Curtis' would'nt have sold that much if it wasnt for the 50 Cent/Kanye 'competition'...

Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.

I hope Chris moves 200-300K his first week. Why? Because I love it when people who are so certain about certain things are dead wrong. Everyone here thinks the album will flop, but just a year ago everyone thought his career was over and yet here he is with two huge R&B hits and a top 15 pop hit.

What? No. Brown's last CD was able to do over 100k the first week when he was still being banned from radio, didn't perform anywhere, etc. He'll definitely be able to the same - most likely more this time around since he has increased support.

And as for Britney, 300k+ is a given. Even Blackout did that amount.
