Between Jonesy's Jukebox on the KROQ site and Henry Rollins on the KCRW website, you'll expand your music horizons. They bring their own music on their shows, and some of the shows are archived.

The Damned, Bad Brains, Sham 69, The Misfits. Rollins raved about The Ruts and they were def. good.

From the top of my head, the more popular ones I could think of if you like old school Punk/HC:

Descendants

Wipers

X

The Weirdos

The Zeros

Circle Jerks

Angry Samoans

Zero Boys

Poison Idea

D.O.A.

Crass

Discharge

GBH

Necros

Negative Approach

The Avengers

I'm sure all these groups have footage on Youtube. I uploaded some rare footage there myself:

I hate to disagree with Timmy84 but as an entry point this is the place to start with the Buzzcocks.

[img:$uid]http://images.wikia.com/lyricwiki/images/8/8f/Buzzcocks_-_Singles_Going_Steady.jpg[/img:$uid]

Get the version with the bonus tracks and you will have a near perfect collection of their music.

If you want to dig deeper there are fantastic double disc reissues of their first three albums.

I would also recommend something by the Stiff Little Fingers, this is probably your best bet:

Ooh, those are nice mentions, bro. Red C? Anybody who mentions an obscure D.C. Punk band knows their stuff. And how can I forget a couple bands from Prince's home town Husker Du & The Replacements ?(early stuff) Also, I recommend watching an old Documentary on the early Los Angeles Punk scene called The Decline of Westen Civilization that has early footage of Black Flag, the Germs,Circle Jerks, Catholic Disicipliine, X, The Bags, and Fear. The Fear footage is priceless.

I like a lot of the bands that have already been mentioned here, but here are some of my other favorites: The Plasmatics! This song is from their debut album "New Hope For The Wretched".

...and somwhere between punk and glam rock, it's the New York Dolls!

OOps, sorry about that . Btw, you guys may or may not know this, but Punk, New Wave, Hardcore, whatever was never an exclusive all White experience. There were tons of African-Americans & other people of color involved way back then. Most people know of the Bad Brains, Fishbone, Poly-Strene of X-Ray Spex, etc. but there were numerous others, either as the lead singer, playin bass, guitar, drums, whatever. oh YEAH! being a black woman, i know very well what it is to be a 'minority' in the punk scene. you've got mother's finest, black murda... so many groups. i actually have seen the piece you posted the link of some time ago. i may even have a physical copy of it somewhere. i have indeed seen the bad brains, fishbone and other groups live. there's also alice bag, who's latina. there's thin lizzy, rasputin's stash... TONS of rock bands fronted by brothas and sistas.

i have also seen 'afro punk'; i'm not too into that film, but yeah, it's nice to have that ground covered. all the bands i named though, those were the ones which came to mind. others mentioned fishbone and bad brains (and others) so i didn't want to repeat that.

Since you mention Minor Threat twice...I'm gonna recommend Embrace:

Wasn't a big fan when it first came out, but twenty years later I appreciated it more. Just don't call it 'Emocore'. smile
