You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The Whispers had an amazing run.Even during the late 80s,they were still having hit records. In fact, they were experiencing a career rebirth around that time, with the successful 'Just Gets Better With Time' album. The title track was released as the second single....

there's a funny Prince-related story about this song lol When Prince heard this song on the radio in 1983,he wrongly assumed that it was a Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis production. This was at a time when he didn't really want his "employees" working outside of the Prince camp.So he confronts Jimmy and Terry, but they kept insisting that they had nothing to do with this song, lol. It's actually a Leon Sylvers production.

"Only You" from the 'Love Is Where You Find It' album.I think that Shai sampled this song on their 1993 hit "Baby I'm Yours"? hmmm the melody is similiar

Their late 80's and early 90's stuff was pretty good.
