New Cars Album Slated For May

February 8, 2011

The Cars have revealed that their long-awaited new LP will be released in May.

The album, entitled Move Like This, will be their first since 1987's Door to Door (after which the band broke up) and includes the lead single "Sad Song," which will be officially released in March.

A short clip of the single has been made available online through the band's Facebook page, where they have also posted a snippet of a song called "Blue Tip" and 90 seconds of a song called "Free."

The LP includes the group's original lineup of Ric Ocasek, guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson (original bassist Benjamin Orr having passed away in 2000).

A promotional tour for the album has yet to be announced; however, the Cars will be playing this year's Coachella Music Festival.

SoulAlive

Cool! I was recently listening to their 'Best of' CD and downloading certain songs onto my iPod.

"Let's Go" (1979) is my favorite headbang

This is my favorite. I used to like watching their videos for Magic and You Might Think. Phil Collins spoofed the bumblebee bit on his Don't Lose My Number video. lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Always a band that I felt I should like more than I do, musically. Certainly respect them tho.
