Ciara's problem is...as a recording artist, she simply has no personality.I feel the same way about Mya and Ashanti. These ladies are good looking but there's not much substance in their work. That's why people got bored with them.Ciara is boring. She tried to be another Aaliyah and Janet Jackson but clones are never as good as the original.

People in Atlanta used to say all the time that she got "Hollywood" after the success of her first record. She distanced herself from Jazzy Pha and anything associated with Atlanta and in return, distanced herself from whatever base she did muster from that first effort.

This is why you see the "A" hats now and claiming she rep the "A" all day in her songs, etc. etc. It was a lame, late attempt to reconnect to something that made her.

Now I've said all that to say this; If she ends up @ Magic City, I may have to help her out a little bit. razz

I didn't know Jive still existed. The last record I bought from them was Code Red by Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince in the early 1990's. lol I mostly remember Jive Records from Billy Ocean and Whodini records from the 1980's.

Those were the best. lol

I remember seeing an interview with Whodini in the late 90's after

they signed with So So Def and Jalil referred to Jive Records as

Jive Ass records. lol

Yeah they still exist, and they work under the name Jive/Zomba and they had some of the biggest selling artists in the 1990s (R. Kelly, Backstreet boys...)

back to topic... I feel sorry for Ciara though... She wasnt a hell of a singer but I found her sweet for some reasons, she could actually dance and "Promise" still remains one of my favourite slow jams ever...

Anyway, from day one, I knew she was just "the-flavor-of-the-moment", that her career wouldn't go far... I'm actually surprised she managed to put 4 albums out! smile

Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.

It's not her fault. These record companies expect too much from Ciara. CiCi is a singles artist not an album artists. There have been some great tracks along the way:

Ride

Speechless

Never Ever

Like A Boy

Goodies

Can't Leave Em

Promise

Oh

Echo

If the next record label can focus on a really good EP with complimentary and memorable videos then things will be alright and sales will go up.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose

I had a feeling she felt she was above everyone else after the first album became a success. No doubt she's reaping what she sowed.

I just cant get into Ciara anymore. I lost interest after "Promise" came out. She just can't find her own sound. Pussy poppin on stage and doing "the matrix" will only get you so far

nod Promise was the only song and video that I reallly liked from her. Even though it was heavily Janet/Aaliyah influced...Like 95% of everything she does..but at least I thought she did that well in the video. I think Tina Landon choreographed that..I'm not sure....

Anywhooo...If she is dropped its about damn time.

I heard that the Backstreet Boys left Jive records just recently- maybe that's why they are getting so much coverage these days after such a long time eek Their record company was probably screwing them over before this whole NKOTBSB thing just blew up.
