Post 'em.

I had a whole list in mind but the one thing that stood out at this moment is....

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Why did I think of Charles Burnett when I listened to that song? It just seem just like the type of song he would play as a narrative to a scene from his movies.

Odd you should post this, some of my favorite songs are eerie, mildly creepy. I just like the mystery of that music.

Obviously one pick would be P's There's Others Here With Us. Damning.

Dead Can Dance did a traditional Irish ballad. The song is both creepy and sad at the same time:

Then, there's TSOL:

The Church:

Obviously, Portishead:

boxed Hold me.

Ennio Morricone is the master of murk:

There's always Bernard Herrman:

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

When I was real little, I used to live with my grandparents in the country. This is the type of music my grandfather used to play (simple country style blues). Everything else was noise to him. lol

I was pretty big fan of Mazzy Star back in the day. It's almost a little embarrassing now, but I'm not sure why. They rocked the eerie music like no other.

Absolutely! Especially this one:

And there's a whole different world weariness to Johnny Cash's version:

and i was recently remembering how dark the tori amos single and video for "spark"

were. the song is beautiful, and a bit dark, but the video made it much more eerie...

there's tons more of dark and eerie shit that i like. i seem to prefer those songs biggrin

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Something in the Water is actually my favorite Prince song of all time. *nods eagerly*

"There's Others Here With Us" is really dark and eerie too.

When I listen to TDS, I never listen to "Hurt" *hides*.

I always go for "Eraser", "Reptile" and "I Do Not Want This".

One of my all-time favorite eerie songs is by Patti Smith--"Horses." It always reminded me of a play called "Equus" about a mentally-disturbed boy who stabbed the eyes out of some horses because he was sexually conflicted... eek
