I agree. I never really understood why he needed so many tracks. I think he was trying to give fans a mix of different flavors with pop, R&B, and some Disney-esque stuff. It weighed down the album because it didn't carry a solid feel to it. I can't help wondering that Michael probably did that because he had some visual projects in mind to go along with the album.... why else would he have a song like 2000 Watts in it? disbelief

Unbreakable

Heartbreaker

Invincible

Break of Dawn

You Rock My World (no intro)

Heaven Can Wait

Butterflies

Privacy

Whatever Happens

Threatened

that's a tight album with with 10 solid tracks; and with a harder sound, then we'd be talking about a new classic of pop music

back in 2001 I was disappointed by the bland production and the EXCESSIVE amount of filler...

Wait! you left off Don't Walk Away! sad

My tracklist would've been:

1. Unbreakable (different mix without Biggie's verse)

2. Invincible (different mix without Fat's verse)

3. Break Of Dawn

4. You Rock My World (no intro)

5. Butterflies (the rare radio mix with the added adlib at the end)

6. Heaven Can Wait

7. Don't Walk Away

8. Whatever Happens

9. Privacy

10. Threatened

I think Another Day could've worked but the mix on Michael is sooooo underwhelming

I could do without Privacy or Threatened. Both songs seemed to be a rehashed version of his anti-media theme. I'd replace those two with Another Day and Don't Walk Away.

That was one of the bones I had with Invincible - Privacy (lesser cousin of Tabloid Junkie) and Threatened (2001's Thriller) didn't need to be there. It was familiar territory.

Where Michael explored something new - Shout, Break o Dawn, Butterflies was where the album came alive.

By that do you mean:

You Rock My World

Cry

Butterflies

I know that Invincible, Heaven Can Wait and Whatever Happens were also discussed as singles.

i LOVE cry! even if r kelly's a hack. michael always made him sound good. the only mis-step was 'one more chance'. that song makes me want to vomit.

I dig your list Jay but I would HAVE to remove Privacy and replace it with One More Chance

Wait, OMC WAS recorded for Invincible right?

I'm gonna be honest - I didn't like 2000 Watts, either.

But Privacy is the REAL turd on that disc imo. lol I only played that song once. Once.

I'm probably one of the few people who actually likes 'Threatened' though.

And YRMW. Not a fan of Cry, though. Forgot that was even a single. Weren't they going to name the album Cry in some markets, too? Good lord have mercy.

2000 Watts isn't a great song...But I was trying to make a fairly strong 10 song disc with the songs known released for Invincible...Not taking songs from the Invincible sessions...Otherwise I'd add some different songs. So given that then there's really not THAT much to choose from for 10 songs. But it would've been a better album than the 16 tracks one.

I do love "Butterflies, Heaven Can Wait, Break Of Dawn, You Rock My World, and Speechless. What I like about Whatever Happens is Santana's guitar sounds. I like the nice latin flavor to the song.

Word. How many signatures does there need to be before we can end this lame locking all MJ threads business?

Those giant long sticky of gobble-dee-goop aren't conducive to proper conversation, it's far too broad.

It's one of the reason I don't go into that thread. I loves me some MJ but that thread is a mess and when it gets longer and longer it takes forever to load when you wanna reply to something. I gave up.

there is a new thread they created, simply because the other one was too long.
