Yeah it always turns out to be this big build to an event that turns out to be a non-event. Between weak ass halftime shows(sorry but even that Prince HTS was overrated) and then the lame ass commercials every freaking year, and now the games are so damn boring, i mean alright this one was kinda close, but Green Bay and Pittsburgh? these two teams have less personality than Rihanna in an interview, this was a worse pairing than that world series last year, remember that one? The SanFrancisco Giants and Texas Rangers? I think they even forgot they were in it, it was that boring and bad. And now the national anthem? This is actually talked about? its easily the worst written song ever, that does nothing but praise war, no one knows what the fuck the words are or even mean cause they were written by a bunch of white-racist criminals, and yet we sing it like it had meaning? It has symbolic meaning and its like George Carlin said "Symbols are for the SIMPLE minded".

nod

Honestly I knew the Super Bowl was gonna be boring. It's been boring for a long while.

Like hell! omg Saints VS. Colts was THE last great NFL SuperBowl game ever. And I'm not just saying that because I'm from Louisiana. I saying it because both teams (especially the Saints) took chances in trying to win the game. cool

In the case of Packers VS. Steelers, my disappointment was the Steelers' offense looking too conservative at times. And to make matters worse, the Packers were able to score points off of (almost?) all of the Steelers' turnovers.

He turned this from a war song into a soulful church sermon. cool

No one else has been able to do it like that. Jimi's interpretation was cool too as was Jose's.

i have to say, due to my sentiments about the song, the roseanne bar one was MUCH better than this one.

but i love how he came with his own drum beat to it. i read he was coked out of his mind that night... my favourite part was wen he went, "ooh lord..." have you seen marvin's 1979 version of the song? that one pales in comparison to the 80s one. he learned from that night. diana ross and berry gordy were there...

OH! nona gaye did a duet with her father in 2004 to the '80s version...

Christina really does have the worst luck. Flopped album, canceled tour, unsuccessful movie... and her last attempt to lend credibility to herself as a singer - still FAIL. That's sad.

SINGER Christina Aguilera has become the latest celebrity to have a Super Bowl shocker - by botching a line from the US national anthem.

Aguilera's representatives sent a statement to The Wall Street Journal explaining her fumble.

"I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place," the statement read.

"I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."

Where she should have sang the line "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?" she instead repeated an earlier line, with only a slight variation.

She sang "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming", which is the same line from earlier in the song but with the word "watched" instead of the word "hailed"

The mistake immediately set social networks abuzz with people commenting on the error.

"Most embarrassing moment is Christina Aguilera getting lyrics mixed up. I heard those jeers," Twitter user @LITERARYDISH commented.

Considering the fact that the average American doesn't know the complete lyrics nor the name of its composer, she did a fine job.

There's a genius quote about it from the unpretentiously-decent male nurse, Belize, in the play Angels in America: "The white cracker who wrote the national anthem knew what he was doing. He set the word 'free' to a note so high nobody can reach it. That was deliberate. Nothing on Earth sounds less like freedom to me."

Says everything about that sort of banal, flag-waving patriotism, I reckon.

i have a question which is totally off the subject, but not really... i am trying to post videos here, but i can't seem to figure out how to do it. it's not about simply posting a link, or pasting... you can't really put the embedding code there either... is there another way to do it? thanks.

i just see some really funny videos of people singing this crazy 'oh say can you see' song...

It's not about the performance it's about how big of a DEAL the media makes the performance out to be.

And this morning there's thousands of negative articles about it.

I think it's only YT clips that can be embedded, currently. I'm guessing you're trying to do something more fancy, though.

yeah look for it. it's bad. michael bolton... hmmmm... he was pretty big in the 1980s and 1990s. he had a bunch of records before he hit it really big. his most famous song is the cover of laura brannigan's 'how am i supposed to live without you'.

i would post the video but i am having difficulty posting videos on this site. the link or the embed do not work. is there another way?

I don't think she sounded bad at all. As far as messing up the lyrics, so what? Artists who have been in the game a lot longer than she has do it. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Chaka Khan screw up a lyric, to her own songs! lol
