I've always loved this song. Both "Take Me Higher" and "Everyday Is A New Day" contained some of the best material she's ever recorded. Both discs were very contemporary and she sounded great. Unfortunately, Ross was already way past her prime sales-wise when she recorded these so the public missed out on two of the finest albums of her career.

This one of the issues I've always had the the industry. This arbitrary who's in who's out . . . if something is good and worthy it should be pushed.

It's always been like this. No one really pushes for the real good songs, it's manufactured crap. I knew that even before joining this board. lol

Even with that, it's a damn fine song. Should've done better than peaking at #67 on the R&B charts.

That's the problem . . . lol Good music is good music, I don't care if the artist is 16 or 61 or has been in the game for 2 or 20 years. Ms. Ross does have a base, who probably buy just because.

Yeah. To be honest I wish Diana can just make one more record like this. I'll buy it for sure. lol And not the covers route either. lol

The only way she could be in at her age is if she does a 'duets' album with young acts like Frank Sinatra, Santana, Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, B.B. King, etc., or have some gimmick (Mr. Biggs, Uncle Charlie), or sing hooks on rap songs (Charlie Wilson, The Dramatics, Roger Troutman, Daryl Hall). She can also record albums of oldies that sell to middle aged boomers (Rod Stewart, Michael McDonald).

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

okay, it was worth it just to see daryl hall say, "why don't the homies smile for me"... and dealz, isn't he jackie jackson's kid? so diana ross would do another duet with a jackson...

see, i think that photo is CLASSIC! HA! me and a friend always joke about diana ross and STEVIE WONDER doing a duet album, because STEVIE is known to be a breast man. so he and diana could make an album about that.

after she did that, she shook her head like, "these kids today'...

i think diana's vocals actually improved the older she got. after that 'diana' album (which is an amazing one) she improved. but her vocals got a lot better when she RETURNED to motown and became VP, which is the greatest irony. "i've got to be free" is another great song from her.

Age does wonders for one's voice. Diana's one of the rarest singers who sounded better as she got older. She was alright when she was younger because that voice sold records (The Supremes) but you got a good point about it getting better. By Every Day is a New Day, I was digging it.

Nothing wrong with that sentence. I said they did duets with young acts, not that Frank or Santana were young. wink lol

Seriously I doubt Diana will even go that route. Coming from the school of Motown DOES have its perks. Least none of them tried any tired gimmicks, yeah some of them tried to stay as contemporary as possible (Mary Wells going new wave in the '80s lol; Diana of course with her outfits and that hairdo from 1984 lol ), but I doubt Diana will try all of the above though she did the covers album route with one or two new-ish songs. lol
