Tainted Love (Gloria Jones, Soft Cell, Marilyn Mason, The Pussycat Dolls, OR Imelda May?!?) Listen to all 4 versions and then cast your vote.
Gloria Jones' original version from 1964.
Soft Cell's version from 1981. Marc Almond is on lead vocals.
Marilyn Manson's version from 2001.
The Pussycat Dolls' version from 2005. Nicole Scherzinger is on lead vocals.
Imelda May's version from 2010.

I have Soft Cell and Gloria Jones on my iPod.
Have you ever heard of the group "Straight No Chaser"? I posted two of their Holiday songs on the Christmas song thread:
"Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I gotta go for Marylin Mansons. I first heard it on the movie "Not Another Teenage Movie" soundtrack. Personnaly, I think it's the best. The fact he turned it into a industrial/goth rock song emphasize the 'tainted' part of the lyrics... His version sounds dirty, freaky, dark, sad and happy altogether. Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.

You got that right. I love the video too. People give Marilyn a bad rap sometimes, I actually think he's cool.

The guy that wrote "Tainted Love" (and "Every Little Bit Hurts").

He is. I didn't care about him until the Columbine events (1999) brought to the 'mainstream lights'. Since then, I've been enjoying his music (and Nine Inch Nails' too)... And that guy is probably the smartest man in the music industry. Just check some random interviews of him, you'll see... Oh by the way, you should also check how he has butchered justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around..." on BBC (via YouTube) Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.

Didn't Teena Marie & a few other classic Motown artists cover songs written by Ed Cobb?
