Kim Carnes

I was recently checking out more of her music besides just Bette Davis Eyes & Crazy In The Night

'

I got her Mistaken Identity album and man what a fine album! girl has an awesome bluesy voice and i love every track on the album. It's like bluesy new wave i loved it.

I got my hand's on Barking At Airplanes.... MASTERPIECE yes i will say it MASTERPIECE. There's of course the poppy title track then there's some fantastic song's like He Make's The Sun Rise, Oliver, Touch & Go

This girl had a great voice and a great band it's a shame she is so underrated.

Anyone else a Carnes fan?

I love me some Kim Carnes. You should check out her 1982 album - Voyeur and 1983's Cafe Racers. Both are stellar.

Oh my god 65 that means she was in her mid-30s when "Bette Davis Eyes" was a hit. Prior to that record I never heard of Kim Carnes and Im sure she was releasing albums. I always thought she was an overnight sensation when Bette Davis Eyes was a hit.

I liked the remake she did of Smokey Robinson 'More Love'.

Does anyone think here think her and Bonnie Tyler voice sound eerily alike?

I love Kim Carnes! Especially Mistaken Identity. You described it great - bluesy new wave.

I first heard her duetting with Kenny Rogers - Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer. Then More Love (the Smokey cover) blew me away.

Voyeur is hard to find on CD, so is Cafe Racers. If you can find her 1988 CD A View From the House - not too scarce - it is very good.

A very "Rod Stewartish" type voice. Apparently he thought so too.......

Bonnie Tyler had a similar voice too....

She still plays live, but she writes a lot of country songs.

If you take a look at her credits on All Music, she has quite the resume. There were a lot of people who jumped on the new wave bandwagon around that time, but without a doubt, music video was what made "Bette Davis Eyes" a hit for her, at a time when there were a small handful of music videos on MTV.

Even though she is a known songwriter, she didn't write her biggest hit. Who knew?

great to see Kim Carnes getting some love. Big fan of her stuff. Terrific vocalist.

She absolutely nailed the vocal performance on "Bette Davis Eyes"... great song to start with, but she made it an all-time classic pop/rock single, one of the defining tunes of the decade.
