I LOVE that movie but I don't think David Bowie or Iggy Pop would agree with you that that was a biopic hahaha

Esai Morales was great in La Bamba, but you have to check out his terrific performance in Mi Familia, along with Jimmy Smits and Edward James Olmos. Ranks up there with my favorite movies. I saw him for the very first time when they aired "LaBamba" on one of the cable channels right after I first joined the org in 2004 and instantly went stoned ass crazy over him. He was the finest thing I had seen in ages and in that scene where he was selling drugs and lifted up his shirt and unzipped his pants to show that biker the bag of weed he has stuffed in his pants, when I saw the top of those white briefs with that treasure trail going down into them, I was dripping pre-cum. WLGTDWI also but really that was more an Ike Turner movie than a Tina Turner movie. I remember most of Ike's lines and hardly any from Tina. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Please. Like I was gonna give that Disney-esque Jackson flick a chance? I didn't like the Osmonds either but the way they produced it was ten times better than what Grease-Maine and Margaret produced.

I wish I didn't. I don't know, it's like every time I read or watch the reality of the situation, it doesn't make the film enjoyable anymore.
I did like Katherine's put-downs on Joe especially when she stopped him from whupping their now-TEENAGE sons!

Yeah Coal Miner's Daughter and Sweet Dreams were great films.

Oops! Forgot to state that Sweet Dreams is about the country songstress Patsy Cline (who mentored Loretta Lynn BTW) for those who might want to check out the movie. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Is Sweet Dreams the movie about Patsy Cline or am I thinking of another Jessica Lange performance? I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Funny how one great movie reminds you of another...even if it isn't a biopic! Thinking of country biopics reminds me of another classic movie from 1975--Nashville--which was loosely based on some famous country artists at the time (a lot of artistic license!) and was also a social commentary on the 70s. It was directed by Robert Altman and remains one of his best IMO. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

La Bamba is my fave biopic too. Esai Morales definitely stole the whole movie. That scene at the end where he walks on the bridge and screams out "Ritchie!!!" gets me everytime. He should've won an Oscar, seriously. Hey...
