You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Not everybody thinks dancing and stuff blowing up constitutes a great performance. Going by that kind of criteria, the majority of pre-1970's acts wouldn't have made it. Most of them didn't dance, nor were there any pyro, giant pig props, or light shows. A lot of the performers weren't pretty or skinny either. Some people like watching John Denver, some like watching KISS, and others would rather watch The Three Tenors. Some people like music and others are only interested in spectacle, so you have a bunch of Milli Vanilli performers today that are popular.

One of my favorites that will probably get hate, but after catching everyones' eye on the VMAs, I feel like she really made people stop pay attention, and earned new fans with her SNL performance.

Didn't you watch it closely? She was sampling her own voice and looping it. All of the music and the harmonies were coming from her.

I can't include a link at the moment, but the greatest live performance by any female artist in the last 10 years is k.d. Lang singing Hallelujah at the Vancouver Olympic Games opening ceremony. She is the best damn singer out there today. None of the above even come close.

This brought tears to my eyes.

JackieBlue has been singing her praises to me for a long time, I guess its time for me to invest in her discography now.

I always liked this song but never knew who it was. Nevertheless i wouldn't go as far to

say it's the best female tv performance in the last 10 years but it is pretty good.

It's hard to top any performance by Chaka Khan television or otherwise.

I saw her sing this on another show and I was really impressed.

Good song, good singer, she's cute, and had gimmicks with purpose.
