Rebbie Jackson on The View January 27, 2011 You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Gawwwwd, I can't stand listening to those women (Whoopi excluded). Just a wall of stupid. They can't even ask a question without looking at cards.

At least Rebbie is aging well.

I hate the way Sherri is THE biggest fan of all of the guests!

They don't know anything. They couldn't even pronounce her name right a couple months ago.
Rebba Jackson? Who the fuck is that?

What is she touring for? Is she gonna perform "Centipede" over and over?

Barbara is so disrespectful.

Whoopi said "why do you think everyone is so surprised to hear that you have been touring for years?"
then I thought
LOVE HARD. | |

It goes to show you how uneducated you are concerning The Jackson Family music history.
As a recording artist, Rebbie is more popular in Europe than in North America. She does have other r&b/soul classics .

I knew about Plaything. That was my favorite cut from her. She also had another minor hit from the Centipede album Fork In The Road, a Smokey Robinson & The Miracles remake. I believe the cats from Surface produced the Plaything album. Don't laugh at my funk

Geez, You're on a roll! You continue to show how much of a laughing stock you are to this forum

Bullshit! Rebbie was (and still is) well known in Europe. That's why she used to tour their more than North America.
1988.
1997.

That's correct, but the album is called R U Tuff Enuff. The Surface guys also produced a song called Reaction on another one of her other albums and they worked with Jermaine too. One of them died awhile back, but don't remember which one it was. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Yeah i couldn't remember the name of the album but i remember listening to it on the radio around that time when radio stations used to play full versions of lps back in the day once a week. The album had some nice tracks on it. For the record, Plaything peaked at 8 on the r&b charts in 1988. [Edited 1/29/11 18:48pm] Don't laugh at my funk

^ If she's so popular in Europe, where are the dozens of hits she had in European countries because I sure don't recall any unless we're talking about "Centipede". [Edited 1/29/11 18:59pm]

I can't stand these bitches on the View. I'm still surprised she would do this show considering the stuff they've talked about Michael. The questions are pretty invasive and are almost meant to embarass Rebbie... "why are the kids going Diana Ross? Does she even know? Why isn't Michael leaving you any money?
Do they do this with all their guests? "If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with" - Michael Jackson

1. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm older than you AND Midiscover.
2. Plaything was only a r&b hit in the USA in 1988. But the song was more popular in Europe.

Exactly! | |

I knew it charted well R&B but can you provide me the chart figures for the song in Europe?

You'd be surprised how many people probably never even heard of Rebbie. The fans that follow the family know but the general public doesn't pay attention like that. How is she gonna have hits?
I've heard all types of stuff. People think Michael was the youngest boy. Wrong. There's only two sisters. Wrong. Only five brothers. Wrong.
You think these idiots sitting on the couch ever really followed her? I know Whoopi & Sherri have but the other three?
Please. | |

Even if I were a c-list celeb I think I would refuse to appear on the view...they irk the hell outta me.
Off topic...do they even have a wardrobe budget? It sure doesn't look like it. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

It must be popular, because there is a new copycat show with Sharon Osbourne called The Talk. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I can categorically confirm that Rebbie is not popular in Europe

I guess you're right. Things have change since Rebbie's last recordings from 1998.

Even with Yours Faithfully, she only did a little bit of promo because she was on the MJJ Music subsidary of Sony and they probably decided to release a proper single for her just as a test, as Jackson fever was high in Europe with MJ's HIStory tour, Janet with The Velvet Rope and 3T were really big with the 'Brotherhood' album (but never again, except bizarrely in France) .
It still neevr did anything. In fact that appearance on The Big Breakfast may have been her only proper TV interview.

Umm, all interviewers have cue cards. It's necessary on the production end to keep them on topic, to stay within the time frame alloted for the guest, and the keep them from veering into territory that wasn't cleared by the guest's pr team.
