After announcing her marriage last week, Monica followed up with another big announcement. The R&B singer shared with her Twitter followers that she is preparing to release her 7th studio album, titled New Life.

“Can’t wait until you guys hear New Life,” she wrote on Twitter. “This album speaks volumes about my WHOLE life. Hurt, happiness, pain, love, joy, my kids & redemption. The pain I’ve experienced makes me appreciate the love I have” she continued “So 2nite we taking it back. I’m singing about heartbreak on a mid tempo. Luv it.”

Monica’s new album New Life will serve as the follow-up for her 2010 gold-selling album Still Standing, and is due in stores his summer.

She is also planning to release a Christmas album near the end of the year.

She's doing TOO much. I'm not trying to be mean, but no one is demanding product from her.

This may be a little quick. They could've released another single or 2 from her last album.

I remember in 1998 she told a black hair magazine she wants to make 7-8 albums, I didn't believe she would get that far...and here we are. I knew back then no one would give a shit about her way later, even though I was craziest about her from 1995 to 2002, I didn't care at all after even though she has a good voice and seems sweet.

I've always preferred her over Brandy.

Monica had her biggest album in a while with "Still Standing" including a #1 single/album on the R&B chart. She's also up for 2 Grammys, R&B Female and R&B Album.

Monica has a nicer voice, but I prefer Brandy way more, at least she has a style, Monica really doesn't. And I think her album is just getting hype cause of her show or no one would have given a shit.

I doubt it. Usually when an artist make an announcement about an album in advance it

usually means the project will be released a few months later or so.

Well heres the deal, not a fan of hers at all, BUT, she is doing what artists need to start to be doing, putting out records, the days of sales are over, why cant we get past that?? it seems we all say, "sales dont matter" then we get threads about someones album not selling ten minutes later?? Are people breaking down the door for a new Monica cd?? No, but who gives a fuck and who are we to tell her stop, you arent "rihanna" no one cares, shit, do it, throw it all in the fire see what happens. Im tired of hearing, oh wait let things settle, release a few singles from the last album, well if she isnt getting airplay, whats the fucking point of doing singles? videos and youtube shit i can see, but singles? the ship has sailed too. So as CHER said in MOONSTRUCK, "Snap out of it" and thats what the org. needs to do, SNAP out of this "sales" shit, soundscan is done and over, no one sells, the days of that are gone, your favorite artist is lucky to get records out, enjoy that fact.

^Preach!

In all fairness, who is anyone to say what the public is asking for? I can't believe the public missed Britney Spears........but I digress.

Let people release new music. If you don't like it, don't listen.

yeah i agree, dont get me wrong i dig Britney and quite a few of her songs, BUT, i wasnt dieing for her to put out something new where i was losing sleep, and i seriously dont think the world was either, thats not saying that she is a popular figure, of course she is, but so is Kim Kardashian. I do believe that "we" are very clouded in what we think, we tend to lose sight of the fact that if an artist sells 100,000 of a record in the states how SMALL a % that is of the states, i mean that is the equivalent of 1 person buying your new cd in the uk. So its all relative, i mean the big 3 new releases im looking for are the full DD the new solo Tommy Shaw and the new REM, now im not thinking, what the world is going to think, i know that im losing sleep for those things, and i know that a small pcd of people in those "worlds" are too. Tommy Shaw may sell 2,000 copies to Styx fans, not even a blip on the map in the world, ok, so what should he do, not do music? If you only do what you do to sell, then why not just be a hooker for god sakes. I mean i remember telling someone on this forum that Morten Harket (lead singer of a-ha) his last solo album debuted at number one in Norway and sold about 17,000 copies, now that in norway is like Jay Z selling a million here, no matter how you look at it or spin it, its the same god damn thing. NOw here, Morten is not even known, but let Jay try to sell 17,000 in Norway or sell out a stadium there, not happening. So it is what it is, Music sales are such a small % of the world, YES i know Music is a large % of peoples lives, BUT the sale of it is not, so we as PEOPLE who love music and always have, need to accept that, the new REM isnt going to sell 2 million copies here, or even 200,000 probably it just isnt, thats just the way it is now.
