As far as I can remember, I think the only version prior to this was a cartoon. Hell, I don't know. But they did still cast a white woman to play a white woman. lol

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

You got that right. Well, if she can play Annie, then why not cast Rosanne Barr to play Aretha Franklin? lol

Well, there was this:

I remember this. The boy's mother was black, his father was white, and he himself was Asian.

To be fair, the 1982 version, the version I and alot of others grew up on, is not a great family film to me. It's just plain dull in places, so an update doesn't sound so bad. Shame Willow has to be the star though. The all too perfect and cheesy Smith family need to go away for awhile.

Maybe they'll set it in a "ghettoized" orphanage in the present day? Who knows?

That's an odd way to speak about a child. sad

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Uh what, lol.

This isn't true, Cinderella was around way longer than Disney and it was frequently played in theaters.

It's not set in stone Annie has to be ginger LOL. Or white for that matter lol

I don't think it's a bad idea, songs like "tomorrow" and "hard knock life" are classics to me, and today's glee lovin' kids would love them too. Can't remember the other songs at all though? But 2 classic songs is enough for a decent musical. Maybe they'll contemoporize the songs aswell, or write some new ones?

Iam not a fan either. Particually the celeb cameo's. It's like an advert for their catalogue.

Still, Journey's cheesy classic "don't stop believing" was not a big hit first time around in the UK. So at least some good came out UK wise. Other then that, I wish it would go away.

That's why I said I don't know. All I remember was the cartoon and I hated it (along with all other Disney stuff....the Disney company itself was/is the dullest ever) so I sure wasn't going to look around for other versions. lol

And that's the main problem right there. When they remake and contemporize these classic films and TV shows, that's what ruins them.

When they contemporized "Superman" in 1978, that was fine because times were great back then and it needed to be contemporized. But contemporizing stuff during the shit hop era (the dullest era in the music/film/TV era) it ruins them. There has to be something left for escapism that you can throw into the DVD player when you want to totally escape the shit hop era like it never existed and when they contemporize old things, it destroys having a perfect memory of them because you know there's a version out there that has been polluted and cheapened.

We've been stuck in the same dull rut for the last 20 years and if times ever change for the better, I wouldn't have much of a problem with contemporizing things. But as times are now, there are plenty of times that I like to just totally disassociate myself with today's popular culture and not have any exposure to it whatsoever because it depresses me to be reminded of how low we have sunk.

To be honest, Jaden looks nothing like Ralph Macchio either, but that didn't stop the Karate Kid remake from making beaucoup dough at the box office...

Just look how they fucked up one of my favorite TV shows, "Charlie's Angels". Those ladies on that TV show were beautiful, curvy, and feminine. Those women in that movie looked like skinny sickly anorexics.

And just look at the way they fought. The women on the TV show didn't really do much fighting. If someone grabbed them, they might throw the person over their back or they might hit the man with one karate chop or something. Their main goal was to get the person off of them just long enough so they could reach in their purse and grab their gun. They were feminine and ladies. Those crackhead looking women in the movie fought like men with all that damn karate kicking and shit. Hell, I felt like I was watching a damn Bruce Lee movie. I didn't even finish watching the movie I got so bored with it.
