I used to know a guy who listened to this album all the time. The unusual thing about that was, it was the only non-hip hop CD he owned. lol He didn't really listen to anything else besides rap, mostly Afrocentric stuff like X-Clan.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Hah, I notice a lot of people who were rap fans and "Afrocentric" at least having one or two jazz records lol

I knew a guy like this as well. I suspect he was introduced to the Acknowledgement movement of the suite in the film Mo' Better Blues and thought listening to it -- and letting others know he did -- was enought to make him "cultured". shrug

It's great music. I just hope it was a gateway for him to much, much more.

lol lol lol I know, if I could lie about it I would, but what's the point in that?

Look . . let me tell you something . . I take my love of men who play sax, tenor sax very seriously. To be frank, they're a whole lot of jazz tenor sax players albums I'd grab before I grab Mr. Coltrane. Ben Webster, Dexter Gordan, Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Sonny Criss, Tina Brooks (genuis and under, underrated) just to name a few. I like Coltrane, have quite a bit of his discography but he's never been amongst my favorite tenor's. shrug
