If it were filmed as a documentary of El touring and rebuilding his career, now that would be interesting. But the OP's post says that he will be "reconnecting" with his family--which smells like tabloid reality show crapola to me. El's family relations should be private.

I do remember hearing he wanted to reconnect with his "11" kids ...

He talked about that in his recent JET cover article.

Do you watch reality shows? lol

I don't really watch TV at all, other than reruns of old shows like Bonanza, Gilligan's Island, Hunter, etc. The only thing that I watch that's current is Desperate Housewives lol and sometimes Extreme Makeover Home Edition or The Simpsons. I do watch the music programs and nature shows on PBS. I don't have cable or satellite. I lost interest in new television programs about the same time I lost interest in popular music. I don't have much interest in anything new, whether it's music, TV, cars, movies, cell phones, blue ray, video games, whatever. My turntable and cassette deck works just fine. biggrin

I don't watch TV at all anymore, either--not since my tube TV died. I watch stuff on the computer and that is it. The only time I saw one of these music reality shows was when I went to a friend's house who had cable and we watched a couple of episodes of "Living With Bobby Brown." My friend warned me it was unbelievable and at first I was laughing at Whitney staggering out of the bedroom and yelling "Bo-oo--bby!" and Bobby cheesing for the camera. But then I stopped laughing when they showed an episode of Bobby preparing to take his daughter out for her birthday and then he ends up giving her a huge wad of cash to spend with her "friends" at the mall and then ditching her to hang with his homies... I was eek mad and then just sad for the daughter. How humiliated and bereft she must have felt with those cameras in her face recording all this! razz After that, I decided to have a moratorium on any reality shows at all. My twocents

The last new show I watched on purpose was The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, and that went off the air around 1995. I did see that Jackson brothers show on DVD and a couple of episodes of The Osbournes when I was at someone's house. Other than that I've never seen a reality show. I didn't know Keyshia Cole had a show until I went into that thread talking about her album not selling.

Everybody's a judge. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's simple as that. Who are you to say what somebody else should or shouldn't do? That's their business. If people weren't so nosy and worried about somebody's else's life, reality shows, tabloid magazines & programs, and the endless gossip & rumor threads (ie. Jackson family) that are popular here and elsewhere would cease to exist.

It's NOT that simple if some orgers are starting to run out of channels to flip to because every freaking network has a "reality" show on it.

Thank goodness I don't have cable TV.

Well, how about going to the park, the library, or playing checkers? Watching TV isn't something that's necessary to do. People have existed for centuries without it. I'd never pay to watch television, I barely watch the free channels. Then they made people buy a silly digital box, or else the TV doesn't work. I didn't buy one, but my mom had one of those coupons that let you get 2 of them and she gave me one. It looks no better than the old format to me. The picture tends to either freeze, look pixellated, or a "no signal" message pops up. lol

Who are you telling?!? I've been trying to convince everyone in orgville that they need to spend more time in the libraries AND bookstores alike. Reading books & watching DVDs are better options than watching cable TV. cool

I go online. lol

But if there was a park, library, etc., nearby, of course. And I still have video games. And watch crime TV. So it ain't like I'm seeking it but sometimes when reality shows do come on my favorite channels, I just hit play on my Playstation. Problem solved. lol

That said, reality TV is a flipping curse lol

So you're not saying nothing new, man. wink

So Am I the only one who watched the show last night? Scriptgirl? I know you must have seen it lol.

Anyway, I thought the show was actually pretty good. The show mostly focused on El's career and there was a bit of focus on his private life and the struggles he went through as well. Overall, it was very positive and El comes across as very humble and funny (i.e. when he was telling the story about singing Rhythm of The Night in prison, so funny). He's very likeable and I wish him the best.

I will continue to watch the show.

Other than the ridiculous amounts of money these celebs are paid, doing a reality show is a sure sign that you are a d-list celeb IMHO! It's a huge mistake. Glad I don't watch these crappy shows. I'd rather stab myself in the eyes with a knitting needle than sit through shows like the Kardashians or Jeresy Shore!

Cant really give it a pass because its all under one umbrella and has the same goal, i mean this to me is no different than the Hogans or the Kardashians or Keyshia Cole or Dmx, to decipher what reality shows are "good" and "bad" is like going down the Hot 100 looking for talent.

I watched it. It could be so good, but it looks like they are going the corny route.

He's got a fascinating story. If they focused on that, it would be an amazing series, and really uplifting---focusing on how he stays positive and his relationship with God and his struggles. But instead they are trying to focus on his relationship with his manager (who completely seems like a crook to me). Why? He has an interesting story in himself, they don't need to spice it up with made up drama.

El was incredibly likeable. He definitely has his demons, but you can really see that he is trying so hard to rise above them. I really hope he succeeds. He has so much talent. His story reminds me so much of Marvin Gaye's...talented but complicated, got a second chance...hopefully his story ends differently than Marvin's and he is able to keep the positivity in his life.

Agreed. I thought it was a mistake when I first heard that El was starring in a reality show, but it actually is a very decent show and it does not show him in a negative light at all. I don't see how this show could hurt his career. If anything, it will help him.
