I'm no big authority, but - Great band!

They have a new album out this year, and are back as a 5 piece!

I dig alot of there Songs from back in the day.I respected John Taylor as a Bass Player.I think they truly grew over time musically especially when they got with Nile Rodgers in 86.

They're one of the first bands I got into. I mainly just like their first three albums (Duran, Rio, Seven). I also really like the Arcadia album. I sort of lost interest starting with Notorious, though...

End.

The quintessential 80's New Wave/New Romantic band. They were one of the best, IMO, to spawn from that genre.

Yeah, that's a classic... and how about this clever lyric from "Cracks In The Pavement":

"Don't want to be in public/My head is full of chopstick/I don't like it!"

I'm sure it made sense to Simon...

End.

Did you ever see "Sing Blue Silver"? It covered their '83-84 tour. There is a touching live version of "Save a Prayer" that was dedicated to Marvin Gaye after his death.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

They were my first obsession. lol

I can still listen to their music and enjoy it just as much as I did in the 80's. They had some good songs in the 90's as well.

Here are my faves:

The Chauffer
The Reflex (ext.version)
The 7th Stranger
Secret Oktober
New Religion
Lonely In Your Nightmare
Out of My Mind
everything on Notorious

Loved Arcadia and Power Station!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the dedication was at the Bay Area show at the Oakland Coliseum (what it used to be called) either the day after his death or not too long after that.

Whoa! Great thread! Where do I begin!?
Duran Duran were my absolute favorite BAND growing up and I collected ANYTHING I could get my hands onto about them-everything from import 12" records (yes records lol) to Japanese picture books. They certainly made an impression on this 13 year old's mind back in the 80's! Ironically, I only ever saw The Power Station live (and they kicked ass!) so I am really looking forward to their reunion tour.
I think they were the perfect combination of a "pop" band all mixed together with rock and dance. They have never been afraid of growing musically and have seemed to always strive to do this!
I always cringe at the notion that Michael Jackson was the pioneer in video because Duran Duran took it much more seriously than he did and way before he did.
Notice that once they weren't getting played on the radio very much MTV stopped playing their videos as well. Or vice versa, I dunno.
But yeah...can't say enough about Duran Duran!!!

This is very much the truth look at MJ videos before Duran hit the music scene and look at MJ videos after Duran made it big
im convinced MJ would never had made thriller so over the top if he hadnt seen the videos for hungry like the wolf and save a prayer and wild boys. actually MJ sent the members of duran and note about how he liked their music and videos and how they were inspiring to him and that he would have liked to work with them. john taylor mentioned this in a interview not long. dont get me wrong MJ videos were brilliant but i think Duran's were better and a bit more clever.
