Sorry, but I just can't take this band seriously (in fact, I can't take the whole power/pop genre seriously). I enjoy 4 or 5 of their 77-80 singles and that's all...

Hey, wait a minute. no no no! They're the pride of my hometown, Rockford, Illinois. biggrin A sad, crappy excuse for a hometown, but my hometown nevertheless.

Have you no soul? razz Actually I don't think that you are supposed to take Cheap Trick too seriously but that doesn't mean that they didn't make some worthwhile music.

I'll totally grant you that they fell off fairly quickly but the '70s albums are all very solid. They kind of remind me of Kiss in that they crammed a careers worth of great material into a relatively brief span of time and then carried on for years making medicre albums.

Have you heard Cheap Trick, In Color, Heaven Tonight, At Budokan or Dream Police?

I have, and I don't like 'em lol I'm not sayin' that this band stinks, but for some reason, I can't even hear the greatest hits album in a row. Of that era, I certainly prefer Kiss, Blondie, The Jam, etc.

I got ot give this band alot of props, though i may not own everything on them and now it all back to front, i like alot of their records, i do take alot of what they do serious, but again, they are a rock band from the 70's, there were alot of what was called "progressive rock" like Yes and Floyd and Genesis going on and i just feel this was the alternative to that kind of band, they werent doing 20 minute songs with 14 minute instrumentals. But the thing is they are still very good musicians, and whether we like it or not its just as hard to write a "love song lyric" as it to write a quirky radiohead lyric, and to me its more difficult writing hooks than being all over the place. So though not a huge huge fan, i resepect what they have done, and also their INDEPENDANT stance in the business, i know everyone talks about being indie, but this band was doing it before it was a trendy word like now.

I find it hard not to talk about Cheap Trick without sounding like a crazy obsessed fam. So I'll just say...I like them a real lot. In fact I think they're the best.
