According to our good friends over at Middle Child Promotions, the singer has earmarked June this year to return to the studio to lay down vocals for what will serve as her 8th studio album.

As well as a return to recording, Houston 46, is said to have US television special still ‘on the table’, and has also apparently signed on for two movies. Although, the much hyped ‘Waiting To Exhale’ sequel ‘Getting To Happy’ is interestingly neither of them. The ‘Million Dollar Bill’ singer and her team are still in negations with the movie’s producers - despite the rest of the cast (including Angela Bassett) having already signed on.

In any case, it appears the masses will be seeing a lot of Ms. Houston this year through to next.

Granted such news is welcome, it serves as somewhat bitter-sweet for yours truly; as ‘I Look To You’ still boasts (potential) hit singles in abundance (‘For The Lovers’, ‘I Got You’, ‘Worth It’). Still, with the campaign clearly over months ago, I guess it’s simply a case of “on to the next one”; which may in actuality bode better for Whitney in the long run.

After all, despite the success of the aforementioned, one cannot shy away from the drama which went down in tandem (see: tour, questionable vocal showings etc).

Yet, with many close to camp Houston attesting to her now being in better vocal and physical shape than she has been in a long while, this new project may be what she needs to silence the naysayers and regain some of the steam lost towards the end of the last round. Time will tell…

Randomness: Now Whitney has got through the perfunctory ‘I have overcome’ angle with the last LP (industry politics), raise your hand if you’re hoping for gutsier, more diva-esque material (ala ‘It’s Not Right, But It’s Ok’) on this new album? I sure know I am…

Hmmm...Interesting. Though "I Look To You" was a GOOD comeback, it was still surrounded by lots of doubt. It took Natalie Cole a couple of duds to come back strong, so here's hoping the same for Miss Nippy. There still remains a great deal of clean up for her to ascend to the tops of the charts and reclaim the Pop and/or R&B thrones. Let us not forget her public displays of bizarre and unacceptable behavior, notably with Diane Sawyer and more disturbing, with Wendy Williams. Her public image is most likely permanently tarnished, however, in time, she will most likely overcome and the ghosts will become distant shadows. Another issue to consider is that the market today does not focus on big, Pop ballads anymore, so there could be a challenge with regard to her 2nd comeback targeting all the right venues. She may have to stay within the realm of R&B and crossover to Pop as she once did back in the day. Either way, she still IS Whitney Houston and the name alone carries clout, so here's lookin' at a great, solid and expertly produced/marketed next effort.

I'll be waiting for this but I hope she does the Waiting To Exhale sequel.

Let's hope it will be better than the last cd and that she does the movie-that would be a nice restart for her.

Has Leon signed on? I haven't seen him on the big screen in years.

They could write him into the sequel. Whatsherface had his baby and told him to kick rocks. He could come back, with his act together or not, either way would be good for some Leon screen time.

Funny, earlier my mom and I were talking about Whitney hoping that she wouldn't make another comeback...that last tour of hers was beyond bad. God, she must really be broke or in denial.

She's not going to reclaim anything. Those days are over. She's older now and the music scene has drastically changed. I seriously doubt she's going to have another "I Will Always Love You".
