This is a brilliant track, Green had such a distictive singing voice. The other big single from this time was Absolute, another topper.

The b-sides to both of those singles had remixes of the title tracks called "versions," they were even better. The album these came from was "Cupid & Psyche '85" brilliant brilliant pop music.

I can't say enough great things about Cupid & Psyche 85. That album, to me, is the epitome of a great pop record from the 80s. Green Gartside was/is a white boy Smokey. The sound that they developed for their mid to late eighties albums (albeit, 2 albums) was so unique (I give producer/keyboardist David Gamson a lot of credit for this). And Green's lyrics have always been a bit of the antithesis of typical pop songs. While not near as consistently brilliant as Cupid & Psyche, Provision (from 1988) is worth checking out. Boom, There She Was (w/ Roger Troutman) is still a favorite of mine from that album. Wanted to post my favorite song of theirs -- Absolute -- but I can't get the youtube clips to show up correctly in my post. Oh well.
