Yes they are both similar because they are both Herb Ritts videos - reflective of his style of photography. Look at any videos Herb did and you will see similarities between them all.
They obviously inspired each other and drew from each other. It helped them both.

Well, we got a Janet/MJ duet, but I would love to see Janet do something with Prince. Supposedly Jimmy and Terry wanted Prince to do the first verse on "Love Will Never Do (Without You)", and P has covered "What Have You Done for Me Lately" in concert. And then of course, there was that brief moment in time where they both had the same hairstyle...

Yeah I agree that the music industry kinda ignore what she contributed to pop culture plus people automatically think of madonna who is dubbed by most as the queen of pop as the only female pop artists who influence female pop artists of today and sadly it look like the media is acknowledging britney spears, beyonce, and lady gaga accomplishment more than janet b/c you hear britney spears princess of pop, best selling teenage artist and that how music buyers think of her, beyonce best entertainer out there to today , lady gaga rising pop icon of 21st century but do you think janet branded her name enough if that makes sense b/c like the ladies i mention madonna wasn't only her music, she did movies (didn't she won a oscar?) plus the controversy and her name was constanly in our face, britney spears doing loads of tv specials for her music, had video games, dolls, and pepsi endorsements so she was constanly everywhere, beyonce know for her live performances, crazy in love became her signature song with the uh oh uh oh, and father signed her on to do all kinds of endorsements like cover girl, macdonalds and so on , lady gaga known for her crazy shock antic with her fashion that draws attention and her vison of art that everyone's interest in her and have 2 hit albums especially when know one hardly buys albums anymore, so they kinda branded their name with not only their music to the point that people won't forget them even if they took from other atists they made like their own which is kinda sad

Janet is being ignored now because she hasn't been relevant musically in 10 years. But during the All For You era she was praised left and right with achievement awards. Let’s not act like Janet hasn’t received any praise for her work or influence. People think of Madonna more because her brand is far more established and when you have artists like Lady Gaga directly copying everything you do it's pretty hard to ignore her.

Honestly, The Media has been doing that for YEARS
Same stuff with Elvis, They pratically acted as if Elvis created Rock and Roll. Lets Just forget Chuck Berry and Little Richard. We'll Just give credit to the more FAMOUS artist. That's what people base who is the better artist on. Record sales/Tour Numbers/ and who is more Famous.
