Yeah, I figured I was stating the obvious but was wondering if any of the Jackson kids ever came out and stated Joseph said something like that.
I don't know. Maybe Michael did but I'm not sure. I know Michael used to say Joe called him ugly. |

I enjoyed watching the Piers interview. He was respectful of her and her accomplishments. Asked decent questions. Brought out her sense of humor a little bit. Didn't delve into the conventional "Michael Jackson Documentary" like most interviewers do, (I see ya Meredith ) Overall, it was good promotion for her book as it was supposed to be.
Not to change the subject but I'm I the only one that get the impression that Joseph also screwed the kids up to think that "white is right", or we got to assimilate to appeal to the "masses" or "whitefolk" to sell more records? What do you guys think?
It's the truth |

two words: BLACK BEATLES!!!
You know something else I've noticed?
You always hear people making racial comparisons to whites
ex: The Temptaions=The Black Beatles
Selena= The mexican Madonna
Dorothy Dandridge= The Black Marilyn Monroe
But it's very seldom that you hear people making those comparisons For whites. for example
Britney spears= The white Janet Jackson. Have yall noticed that or is it just me? |

I have disdain for that now. The Jackson 5 were their own group. They didn't dare call the Beatles the white Isley Brothers or Little Richard and for good reason - after 1963 they became their own group more influenced by Bob Dylan and the Beach Boys to be MORE original. The Rolling Stones weren't compared to R&B acts either. I think calling the Jackson 5 "Black Beatles" was disrespectful to both the Beatles and the Jacksons. It also belittled their own legacy (Jacksons). |

I just think it's lazy music journalism or marketing.
Justin Timberlake = The new Michael Jackson
Beiber = The new MJ
They have done it to Michael for years going back to Bobby Brown and Hammer through to Ne-Yo and Usher and Chris Brown. Yes it's easier for people to reference the same musical style in the comparissons, but i think it happens across the board regardless of race.
Hell U2 were the new beatles, then coldplay was the new U2. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love" |

That's why I don't take the media seriously anymore. They just wanna throw it away. They TRIED it with Aretha in the '70s with mainly Natalie Cole but when Natalie got into a scandal and then afterwards changed genres they left it alone. |

'Britney Spears is the white Janet Jackson'
Non-fans might see it like that. I'd be surprised if any Janet fan really want to see that in writing?

See what I mean? That's just insulting. Though it's no surprise Brit took a lot from Damita Jo. But that's besides the point lol |

Britney as the white Janet Jackson? Don't think so. A replicant wannabe, maybe... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

^^Gorgeous in the Everytime video! On a different note, Billboard is reporting the Gaga's "Born This Way" just beat Janet's decade-long record of Biggest Debut Single at radio (most spins). "All For You" was the record holder since 2001. I believe they began tabulating that specific chart in 1998. "Get up off that grey line" |

If I'm not mistaken
"All for You" also debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart at #14, the highest debut ever for a single that wasn't commercially available.
But I guess she did beat it, by 8 million |

Songs don't have to be commercially available to top the radio songs chart. |

Not sure, but I know one record of hers that probably won't be beaten, espacially in today's muscial climate--the RN 7 top 5 singles record. And the 3 #1s in 3 seperate calendar years record will be tough to beat as well. Can you imagine an artist of today putting out a record this year, for instance, and still achieving #1 hits from it in 2013? "Get up off that grey line" |

I Think The Record Janet holds for having Grammy nominations the Dance, Pop, Rap, Rock, and R&B categories, will be one hell of a record to break . And having top 10 hits in almost every genre. |

Right and the most important thing is to build a legacy. There are many one hit wonders that broke records but have faded into oblivion. Ashanti is an example [Edited 2/17/11 19:54pm] |
