Aw that's sweet and I'm glad he's inspired you, the more you know, the more exciting he gets doesn't he?

It's so hard for me to admit the cause of death and I don't feel like I'm crying over that when I'm crying either. When he left, I was numb but also letting him go quick but as soon as we heard about more details and it was kicking in that we will never see hiim again, the pain was kicking in very badly. For me, he was like an escape from daily stresses and anxiety, and with him gone, I was stuck with those and had to find ways to deal with them without turning to listening to him for a change cause it was too painful. While I can play him again and look at pictures most of the time if not all, watching him in motion or hearing him speak makes me cry.

i do love hearing him speak, indeed... i also love reading interviews of his, and thinking of his intonations and pauses... he's retained that midwestern accent in many ways. you can hear it with his whole family. they all have a similar cadence. i enjoy hearing him speak, for sure...

i don't think he sounds like a carbon copy of michael (i mean, no one does), but this dude is pretty good in terms of nuance, if not in keeping his notes all together. this does indeed show how much michael (the greatest teacher of all times) has influenced the world, regardless of culture or language.

i heard the album in full on the sony site (which was the ONLY way i was gonna hear it- because i wasn't buying it either)- and i consider it to be the worst album i have ever heard in my life. people say, 'what do you mean? there are worse albums, for sure...' the thing is, i am not even thinking of the songs (which i think are pretty pedestrian at best). i am thinking more of the intention. most 'bad' albums are just that. they are meant to be produced for mass consumption, with no value other than that. this 'michael' album was produced with the intention of exploiting the name of a man whose legacy and message is the polar opposite than what they produced.

and invincible is actually one of my four favourite albums of michael's. it is a work which shows his maturity and state of fatherhood. it's also an album which seems to lend to a sort of resignation. he was pretty open in saying that that would be his final album.

Hi and welcome. Nice to see you around. Though, I would still try to remember that even as someone who is studying him, his career, and music that you need to make a clear distinction between your own interpretations and why may actually be the truth. Interpretations are still reflective of the interpreters feelings and personality rather than the subject. This also includes his music as well, especially since it's still art even if someone thinks that just because it's pop music it hold less artistic value for some reason.

Whenever I listen to the song "Used To Be My Girl" by the O'Jays, I always think of the Jacksons. From the melody to the vocals, it reminds of a song that MJ would've done and sung quite well. I looked it up and sure enough, it's a Gamble and Huff production released in '78. Maybe if the Jacksons did one more album with that team, it would've been their song.

Jean Walker, the taxi driver sounds almost 95% like MJ. Considering he probably has had no singing lessons and english is not even his first language, it is a miracle.

Spooky!

If this guy was actually put in a studio and they got his best takes, you would find it hard to tell the difference between his voice and MJ's.

As it is now, he is very close, far closer than that pathetic Jason Malachi coward.

Yes, Blanket is the clone. And the fact that Prince's voice is so deep is extremely ironic. lol

This made me miss Michael.. But not as much as his children miss him.

i concur... 'rio' is definitely the best... and the song he did with betty wright. i think marlon suffered from the same fate as a lot of producers/songwriters... he gave people the better material than he gave himself.

I wish the brothers didn't stop (producing at least). They possibly could have challenged Jam & Lewis and Flyte Tyme / Babyface and LA Reid & the LaFace company / Teddy Riley & Gene in the late 80s' e.arly 90s.

Why is it that every superstar that gives an interview about Mike says that they were invited to open for This Is It?

i was going to ask the very same thing... which makes me think that if anything, these handlers are telling these people this stuff to puff up some heads. let's see... i heard john mayer was gonna open... akon... lady gaga... some kid off youtube... the gaga thing made me laugh actually, as the messages and energy she sends out (which is extremely dark and far from positive- in my opinion she is not about life) is the EXACT OPPOSITE of the energy michael puts out.

What you have to remember is that the 50 shows were over a 9 month period. No "support act" is going to hang around for that long if they are names in their own right. I also think that the plan was to have several opening acts over the course of the shows - so it seems plausible that they would have had a dream list of who they would have wanted to open for him.

So last night I was clearing out a whole heap of stuff in my studio and came across:

The original Amiga 500 version of the Moonwalker Game

and my Sega Mega Drive version of Moonwalker.

Blasts from the past.

Question.

Behind The Mask was supposed to be on Thriller, but legal reasons prevented it from making the final cut. Why was it okay to release Greg's version (along with other remakes) but not okay to release Mike's? And what was the reason for it finally being released now? Anyone know the exact legal reasons that prevented it from seeing the 1982 release?

It had all been settled by then I think, by the time they could, it was too late

The matter was songwriting credit. Chris Mosdell said Michael wanted something like 50% credit but Mosdell felt he shouldn't because the song was already written and released and Michael wrote verses and a extra melody line to it. That's what the disagreement was all about

So MJ's version has an extra verse? I've never listened to the original. I do remember Quincy (???) saying that he presented the record to MJ and MJ wrote an extra verse to it

What a beautiful song.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Michael wrote complete verses. The original was pretty much an instrumental except for the robotic voice during the chorus. Michael wrote everything else and an extra melody line

So let's just say there were no copyright issues. Does Behind The Mask make Thriller? And if it does, what track on Thriller gets left out? I have a hard time thinking Behind The Mask would've even made the final cut. Especially considering it's a faster song and although with new lyrics, a remake.

I can't see where Behind the Mask would fit it on Thriller, unless you added it as an additional song. Side B is probably the strongest side with 'Beat It', 'Billie Jean', 'Human Nature', 'PYT' & 'Lady in My Life' so none of those are replaceable IMO. Maybe it could have fit in somewhere on Side A but 'Wanna Be Startin Somethin' is a strong opening track and Thriller is the title track and not replaceable as that would have altered the albums theme, but perhaps BTM could have followed Wanna Be Startin Somethin?, although I like 'Baby Be Mine'. Perhaps you could have replaced 'The Girl Is Mine' with BTM?, but again it's MJ and Paul McCartney collaboration.

I think if they made a second Thriller disc they could have included:

1. Love Never Felt So Good

2. Got The Hots

3. Girl Is Mine (MJ solo version)

4. Starlight

5. Trouble

6. For All Time

7. Carousel

8. Behind the Mask

9. Lady in My Life (Extended version)

Interesting thoughts. I agree that there would just be no spot for Behind The Mask on Thriller. Thriller seems to flow quite well as it is. I think if you take out Baby Be Mine, that gives you the only possible way. But I like Baby Be Mine.

As for the rest of the Thriller outtakes that have leaked, I can see why each one didn't make the cut. They're not bad. Just not strong enough.

I can't stop listening to this song, "Fall Again"

it's one of the demos included on the limited edition "Michael Jackson: The Ultimate Collection" (4 CDs, 1 DVD), released in 2004 (you know it's MJ singing... wink )

very nice selection of clips to go with the lyrics

MJ Producer Dropped From Wrongful Death Suit

Michael Jackson's producer of the "This Is It" tour just got a break in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Katherine Jackson -- he's been dropped as a defendant ... TMZ has learned.

Kenny Ortega was sued by Katherine, who claimed he was part of AEG's alleged plan to give Michael anything he needed in order for him to perform.

Katherine's lawyer, Kevin Boyle, tells TMZ, "Based on recently discovered information, the Jackson family has determined that Mr. Ortega should not be a defendant," adding, "The Jackson Family apologizes for any discomfort or inconvenience this may have caused Mr. Ortega."

It's always a discomfort to be sued for wrongful death.
