Wasn't Andy Summers from The Police in this group? I know he was in a couple of 1960's bands. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This is one of the most haunting songs i've ever heard. Outstanding vocals too. Definitely one of my all time favorite songs. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Man, I used to wear the groove off the record when I was a kid playing this song over and over... Great cover by the Animals! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Didn't Bob Dylan do cover of this song as well?

If you mean as in cover the Animals' version, then no. Bob did his version in 1962. The Animals' version was similar. Eric Burdon himself later admitted he imitated bits of Bob's recording of it. Bob stopped performing the song after fans of his accused him of stealing from the Animals though he had done his version and his version wasn't a hit.
But other than that, yeah Bob did cover it. [Edited 1/14/11 17:49pm]

Dylan sang it from the female perspective, kind of like when Jack White sings Jolene.

I grew up with the Dylan version, only because my best friend at the time loved Dylan. While she threw Dylan at me, I threw back Credence Clearwater Revival Yup, I'm as old as the hills

This is my fave version of the song...
The organ playing incorporated with the drums might give you a hint as to where "dance club mixes" came from. [Edited 1/15/11 0:01am]
