Great track from the band, their original drummer Topper Headon composed the music and Joe Strummer added the lyrics. In the video the drummer (Topper) was replaced by Terry Chimes

Will Smith did a collaboration with Jodeci and sampled this song which was horrible.

Love this song. I have a CD from one of these lads from the early 90's that kind of updated this sound for the then times. I must admit to loving it. Must think about the band name and the song that was a hit from it.

Joe Strummer, from an interview with The L.A. Times, 1-31-88:

Q: What are you proudest of that the Clash did?

JS: "Rock the Casbah." It's such a groove. Long live groove. Screw the rest of it.

In one of the campfire scenes late in the 2007 documentary Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten, a Granada friend states that Strummer wept when he heard that the phrase "Rock the Casbah" was written on an American bomb that was to be detonated on Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War.[9]

sad ........

Sad story for one of the greatest recordeds made ........cool , War is stupid.....and people stupid:-(

There's a great 'dub' version, too, which was the b-side to the single. music
