Aretha to schedule first interview to Wendy Williams following surgery via her phone tomorrow I just read at another board that Aretha will have her first interview (out of JET) to Wendy Williams via the phone, she'll apparently talk of how well she's been doing after surgery (obviously). But I figured if any of y'all watched Wendy, y'all be interested.

What surgery did she have?

It's still unclear with Aretha's last statements from what. I think she said something about having a "hard pain" in her chest or something... Of course, it's been leaked that she had the Whipple surgery from her bout with pancreatic cancer. She hasn't yet confirmed or deny that the surgery was for that. When we asked her for a reaction to the news of Aretha Franklin's diagnosis with pancreatic cancer, Patti gave the Queen of Soul a moving tribute, saying: "I called her two weeks before it was publicized, so I knew for a long time that she had pancreatic cancer. And I knew for a long time that she had lost 50 lbs. So, people are going around with bad rumors that she had liposuction - that's not nice. You know, the lady is suffering. I've talked to her manager to see when I should send flowers to her, and all of that kind of stuff. I'm going to go to Detroit just to see her. She's our Queen - you'll never, ever find another one like her. Ever. She's the best! And a lot of people are in pain. I went and lit a candle for her at a cathedral, and you pray for Aretha Franklin now. She will be back. Love you ReRe!"

I remembered hearing rumors about the liposuction and gastric bypass, I knew that was bullshit.

I think it's obvious Aretha knows people ain't lying when they say she has pancreatic cancer. She's just choosing to not discuss it. So no doubt I'm still worrying about her. Like I said earlier if it wasn't true, her people would've deny it from jump street and her statements haven't really done much.

When I heard that it will be with Wendy I said the same thing also, but I think that Wendy will be on her best behavior since she is dealing with the Queen of Soul. If not I'll fly down there and kick her ass! I'M NOT SHOUTING, JEEZ!

It seems like the older Aretha is, the more ghetto she gets.

Aretha Franklin Says Her Health Is 'Superb'Aretha Franklin on talk show says her health's 'superb,' she'll reschedule canceled tour datesDETROIT January 12, 2011 (AP)
A month after surgery in Detroit for an undisclosed ailment, Aretha Franklin says her health is "superb."
Franklin called in to Wednesday's installment of "The Wendy Williams Show," telling the host she was relaxing at a casino hotel in her hometown and hopes to begin traveling soon, saying she'll be "looking for a fabulous beach." She says she has two more weeks of down time as she continues her recovery.
The legendary singer also vowed to reschedule the concert dates she missed.
Franklin's voice was strong and steady during the interview, and she hinted she was dating someone.
With the exception of written statements and print interviews with Jet magazine, this was one of the first times the 68-year-old Franklin has been heard since the Dec. 2 surgery.

Well she also stated in this interview that if R. Kelly keeps singing like he did on "When A Woman Loves" she may have to become a cougar. Is it possible that this has been a great hoax and indeed it was for weight loss? Conspiracy Theory 1 Next thing is when will the public see Aretha Franklin? Music Royalty in Motion

Didn't she say she was going to some play about Sam Cooke later this month? And she still can't perform until May.

I'm thinking it was a weight loss surgery also, because she's lost a few pounds and the weight that she was at most surgeons want you to lose weight first to see if your are serious then they will perform the surgery. I hope it is some type of gastric bypass because it's a helluva lot better then cancer. I'M NOT SHOUTING, JEEZ!

As cagey as Aretha is, I doubt she'll reveal the actual cause. Her publicist hasn't stopped any health "rumors" and of course the pancreatic cancer stories are now of PUBLIC RECORD. No denials from the Franklin camp about that at all.
That said, I'm glad Aretha's at least trying to continue her legendary career.

Aretha did reveal something of having a hard pain while touring in Toronto:
"I had a colonoscopy and it showed nothing was wrong", Franklin said, "I associated the pain in my side with the colonoscopy that I had within a day or two before. I got up at 2 o’clock in the morning and called the doctor who did the colonoscopy and told him what was happening. He said, ‘Miss Franklin, whatever it is, it is not from the colonoscopy. You need to come home and have a CAT-scan.’ Thank God he said that because that unfolded everything, what the problem was and everything.”
I think if it was simply gastric bypass, she wouldn't have said this.
