What up with the Beastie Boys?

I'm getting antsy waiting for their new album to drop so i've busted out To The 5 Burroughs to tie me over. Any Beastie Boys fans on the org? Any body else awaiting their forthcoming album??

I might be the only person that doesn't have Paul's Boutique. Am I missing out? Should I get it? What's the general vibe? I love thier first album. License to Ill is classic!

I heard they're just going back to work on the new album after, I believe, Adam Yauch, recovered from his ailment.

hot sauce committe part 2 is complete and will be released on schedule in spring. part 1 is delayed as they aren't sure what to do with it. MCA is better, but still isn't completely well yet

Though Paul's Boutique is considered a hip hop classic now I must admit I was disappointed with it at first. I still think License to Ill was better.

Paul's Boutique is a crazy mish mash of samples like De La Soul's debut. I think you should listen to THAT to tide you over, haha.

I read somewhere that both albums are almost identical...how is that possible? The article also mentioned a documentary about the making of the "Fight For Your Right To Party" video.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Some of the Part 1 songs have been on Youtube for awhile now.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Good advice (i'm presuming you meant De La Soul). But no i disagree 'Pauls Boutique' is a decent album, took a lot of flak for no reason other than being different to their first. Fucking journalists had it in for the Beasties in the UK, it was crazy.

Might just be me but i like a lot of so-called difficult second albums. This and TTD's 'Neither Fish nor Flesh' spring to mind.

Adam Yauch, known as MCA from the Beastie Boys, has revealed that his cancer battle has forced him to make some serious changes to his lifestyle.
The musician, who is Buddhist, was diagnosed two years ago with cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node. He immediately sought treatment for the disease from Tibetan doctors who recommended a strict vegan, organic diet along with Chinese medicine. In a note to his fans, he wrote:
“so i just got back from dharamsala, india. went over there to see some tibetan doctors, but as it worked out, the Dalai Lama was giving a 3 day teaching, so i was able to attend that as well.”
“i’m feeling healthy, strong and hopeful that i’ve beaten this thing, but of course time will tell. i’m taking tibetan medicine and at the recommendation of the tibetan doctors i’ve been eating a vegan/organic diet, which surprisingly enough was harder to do in india than it is now that i’m back home. here i can just shop for the right food and cook… a lot easier than depending on restaurants.”
Yauch certainly has the support of his bandmates — with fellow rapper Mike D also rocking the vegan scene.
The Beastie Boys are expected to release their new album, "Hot Sauce Committee Pt 2," in the coming months.

What difference does that make? I listen to blues where there's no hits. lol

ha! old blues is FULL of timeless classics and songs that were hits when covered by other artists in the 60s/70s...

Muddy Waters was essentially full of hits... wink

Well good luck to him. Hope he recovers. Not sure bout the hippy crap mind. He should eat some lion steak or guerilla meat, the kings of the jungle would make him strong. Vegetables are feeble.
